Lecce
Commonly nicknamed "Florence of the South," Lecce is famous for its Baroque architecture, Greek culture and "Lecce stone" (a type of limestone used for sculpting, and also the city's main export). Nestled in the famously gorgeous Puglia region, the city is well deserving of its reputation as the Baroque masterpiece of southern Italy. The Church of the Holy Cross (Chiesa di Santa Croce), Duomo cathedral and Roman amphitheater are all fascinating examples of Lecce's artistic flair.
