K + K Hotels
K+K hotels are a family run business with ten boutique 4 star hotels throughout Europe in their portfolio. During my recent trip, I was fortunate enough to stay in a K+K hotel in three cities, Prague, Vienna and Budapest. This gave me a great insight into the quality and services they provide and has given me great confidence in the K+K name. In Prague, we stayed at the K+K Central which is one of two of the K+K hotels in the city. A 10 minute walk from the station, this historical property has an Art Nouveau design with unique features including its original lift and staircase which really gives you a great first impression when you enter the hotel. The breakfast area is also a special feature of the hotel, this innovative glass cube, located in an old auditorium has a meeting room inside and the breakfast area sitting on top. It really is a unique breakfast setting and a nice way to start your day. As the name suggests it is very central. Located on a quiet street, it is moments away from the Powder Tower and a further 5 minutes on foot will bring you to the old town. This is the perfect location for you to explore this historical city. Our next stop was Vienna where we stayed at the K+K Maria Theresa. This hotel is a hidden gem in a quiet street behind the Museum Quarter, which is ideal for discovering all of the great museums Vienna has to offer as well as the being close to the Mariahilfer Strasse Boulevard for shopping, restaurants and galleries. It is easily accessible by public transport with the closest metro a 5 minute walk away. In Budapest, we received a very warm welcome at the K+K Hotel Opera. It is not surprising that this hotel is a stone’s throw away from the magnificent Opera House, which is where you will also find the closest Metro station for you to discover Budapest. For the third time, we had had a very pleasant stay with the K+K with great service, a lovely room and the staff were wonderful - I was starting to see a trend amongst these hotels! All these K+K Hotels were modern and contemporary with the rooms all being the same size, with the same facilities and furnished in a similar style. Their Classic rooms are all of a good size which is very comfortable. An upgrade to an Executive room will give you extra space with a larger TV and in most cases you will also have a sofa. The buffet breakfast at all of the hotels has a great range of options, from cereal and yogurt and a variety of pastries to cold meats and cheeses and hot options such as scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon. For those early starters there is also sparkling wine available for a champagne breakfast. With regards to location, it is obvious that K+K have carefully selected their properties in excellent central locations with many of the city’s main sights, shops, bars and restaurants all within walking distance and all very accessible by public transport. The K+K chain prides itself on a formula it calls 'four and more' and this is evident in the quality of the hotels and the services they provide. The staff really went above and beyond during our stay in order to make sure we had an enjoyable experience which started from the moment we walked into the hotel to the moment we left. From helping us with our bags, to arranging transport to the airport, providing information on sightseeing or simply recommending a place to eat or drink. Although there are a lot of parallels across the hotels, each hotel is unique from one another in their design and architecture which is tailored to each individual property; this is noticeable in reception, the bar areas, breakfast rooms and other common areas. You know what you can expect when booking a room at a K+K Hotel - a central hotel with friendly staff, first class facilities and comfortable, modern rooms, yet each individual hotel also offers a unique experience.
