Ruoqiang
Ruoqiang County, also known as Charklik, is a vast and remote region in southeastern Xinjiang, China, steeped in Silk Road history and surrounded by striking desert and mountain landscapes. The area is home to significant archaeological sites such as the ancient cities of Loulan and Miran, as well as the Xiaohe Cemetery, famed for its well-preserved Bronze Age mummies. Nature enthusiasts can explore the Altun Shan and Lop Nur Wild Camel National Nature Reserves, which protect rare wildlife like the wild Bactrian camel. Despite its isolation, Ruoqiang offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty for the adventurous traveler.
