Balestrand

A charming village located on the edge of the Sognefjord – a World Heritage Site. Balestrand is as picturesque as you can get in Norway with wooden panelled buildings and a beautiful stave church, which interesting enough belongs to the Church of England. The Norwegian Museum of Travel, and Sognafjord Aquarium provide some great places to hide should it rain, and for a village so small it certain has some big claims in history as Kaiser Wilhelm II was staying at the historic Kviknes Hotel when WW1 begun!
