Trip Overview

Travel along the tracks on one of Europe’s most scenic rail journeys, combining exciting cities with wonderful panoramas. Take the Brenner Pass rail line from the Bavarian capital of Munich through the verdant landscapes of southern Bavaria to Innsbruck, the winter sports capital of the Alps. Spend two nights exploring before rolling through the snowy Alps, through the beautiful Brenner Pass, to the iconic city of Venice for two additional nights.

Daily Itinerary:

DAY 1 - ARRIVE IN MUNICH
Welcome to Munich! Upon arrival, head to your hotel and check in for a two-night stay. (Overnight in Munich)

DAY 2 - MUNICH
After breakfast this morning, enjoy a second day discovering Munich using your Hop on Hop Off Bus ticket.  If your trip greets you with sunshine, a stroll around the huge urban Englisher Garten is a real treat. Explore the boutiques, cafes and sights of the Altstadt, admire the architecture of Marienplatz, the city's central square, or learn all about Bavarian history at the Bavarian National Museum. (Overnight in Munich) B

DAY 3 - MUNICH TO INNSBRUCK
Take the train this morning from Munich across Bavaria and the Austrian border to Innsbruck. The train passes through the historic market town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and through stunning mountain scenery to the self-proclaimed capital of the Alps, Innsbruck. Look out for Kufstein Fortress as you cross the Austrian border. Once to Innsbruck, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay, and begin to explore. Rest of day at leisure (Overnight in Innsbruck) B

DAY 4 – INNSBRUCK
Enjoy breath-taking vistas of the Austrian mountains with a round-trip cable car ride between Innsbruck city centre and the Nordkette, at the heart of the country’s nature park. Visit a cable car station designed by Zaha Hadid, then watch the ground drop away as you travel to Seegrube. Get a bird’s-eye view of Europe’s steepest ski slope, and spot climbers on the rocky face of the Karwendel. Explore the mountain at your own pace before boarding the Cable car to make the return trip to Innsbruck. (Overnight in Innsbruck) B

DAY 5 - INNSBRUCK TO VENICE
After breakfast, take the train from InnsbruCk through the Alps via the Brenner Pass route. This scenic journey takes you through Alpine meadows and past snowy peaks before skirting around Lake Garda and arriving into Verona. Travel over 3,000 feet up to Brenner, twisting and turning through the mountains before descending through Italy's rolling hills and into Verona. From Verona, switch trains for the short ride on to Venice. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. (Overnight in Venice) B

DAY 6 - VENICE
After breakfast this morning, set out to explore Venice on your Absolute Venice - Walking Tour visiting The Doge's Palace and The Golden Basilica.  After lunch take a Gondola ride, a mode of transport that has been in existence in the city for over 1,000 years! Soak up the vibrant atmosphere in St. Mark’s Square, As the sun sets, wander through narrow cobbled streets, walk across ornate bridges over canals and stop for a leisurely drink in a little campo. (Overnight in Venice) B

DAY 7 – DEPART VENICE
After breakfast this morning, check out of your hotel and continue with your travels. If you wish to extend your vacation, perhaps with an additional day in a different city, one of our Rail Specialists can help you with all the details. B

Grand Hotel Europa Innsbruck

The Grand Hotel Europa in Innsbruck is a historic hotel with 112 bedrooms and suites decorated in either a traditional Tyrolean or modern Italian style. The hotel has an award-winnning restaurant called the Europa Stüberl, a bar and a fitness centre with a sauna and steam room. The hotel is in the centre of Innsbruck, opposite the main train station.

AC Hotel Innsbruck

The Hilton Innsbruck is a modern hotel with 176 contemporary bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and steam room, and the Casino Innsbruck is connected to the hotel. The hotel is close to the train station and a short walk from the old town area of Innsbruck.

Situated at the main train station.
