Trip Overview

This 4-night rail vacation takes in the best 2 of the world's greatest cities has to offer. First Paris, the city of light and love. a Paris Pass gives you unlimited travel on the metro, but you can also revel in its glorious history and sumptuous architecture whilst wandering its avenues and boulevards. Shop until you can’t stop at the chic fashion shops or at one of the numerous flea and antique markets with the locals. Overload on art and culture at the Louvre or Musée d'Orsay, then feast on crepes from a street vendor or some of the finest cuisine in the world. Then to London for 2 nights, where you can enjoy an open top bus tour which takes you by all the major landmarks and sites such as St Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park. Perhaps even take in a show in the bustling West End or enjoy a walking tour of the historic East End and hear the gruesome tales of Jack the Ripper and other such historic characters!

DAY 1 BASEL TO PARIS
Wave good bye to Switzerland as your highspeed TGV train races through the regions of Alsace and Burgundy to Paris, where you can use your 48hr Paris to get to your hotel for a 2-night stay. This evening you could enjoy the Eiffel Tower in lights or take a walk around the peaceful Tuileries Gardens then enjoy some snails and fine wines and any of the great restaurants in St Germain. DAY 2 PARIS
After breakfast make full use of your Paris Pass which gives you fast track entry to The Louvre, where you can take a peek at the Mona Lisa plus hundreds of other pieces of priceless art. The take a stroll to the Gothic marvel that is Notre Dame but also the lesser known Sainte-Chapelle chapel close by, with its breathtaking 13th century stained glass window. Take the metro up to Montmartre for the obligatory portrait from any of the local artists. (Overnight Paris) B

DAY 3 PARIS TO LONDON
Today take the Eurostar train under the English Channel to London and check-in to your hotel for a 2-night stay. In the afternoon you could enjoy the sites and skyline on the river Thames including the London Eye and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre whilst walking along the buzzing Southbank. You can walk over the river from the huge Tate Modern gallery and enjoy one of the city's best views of St Paul's Cathedral, or head to Borough Market where there are some great restaurants'. DAY 4 LONDON
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel the use then spend the day making the most of the great Hop on Hop off Bus Tour. Onboard you get the best photo opportunities and audio history of the many landmarks, including Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, The Tower of London, West Minster Abbey and Trafalgar Square. Check the timings that come with the pass as we would highly recommend joining in with one of the walking tours, be it London's rock and roll history around Soho, the Changing of the Guards around Buckingham Palace and Horse-guards Parade or the chilling Jack the Ripper tour around the Victorian streets of the East End. In the evening head to Angel Islington for a great selection of independent restaurants, or if you are feeling adventurous head down to Brick Lane for an amazing curry. (Overnight London) B

DAY 5 YOUR VACATION ENDS IN LONDON
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and continue with your travels. If you have more time to spend on vacation and would like to extend your trip, perhaps visiting Stonehenge or the historic city of York, just speak to one of our Rail Experts. B

Le Marceau Bastille

Le Marceau Bastille Hotel is a contemporary design hotel with a choice of 55 urban or ecological style bedrooms. Saint Paul Rive Gauche Paris

The beautiful Saint-Paul Rive-Gauche is located between the world-famous Sorbonne and the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens in the centre of Paris. The 17th century boutique hotel is housed in a former 17th century grand residence and is known for its beautiful arched cellar. Each room comes fully air-conditioned and is equipped with modern amenities such as a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi access. Other tourist attractions nearby include Notre Dame, the Pantheon, Palais Garnier and The Louvre.
