DAY 1            MUNICH
Begin your train vacation discovering centuries-old traditions in the heart of Bavaria’s capital: Munich. It is a very visitor-friendly city in almost every aspect. See the fashionable Schwabing district and walk through Hoftgarten. (Overnight in Munich)

DAY 2             MUNICH

The city is famous for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and its beer halls, but it’s also a popular destination because of all its not-to-be-missed attractions. Worth checking out is Nymphenburg Palace to view the royal Residenz or Englischer Garten. Then there’s always visiting the iconic Glockenspiel in Marienplatz. (Overnight in Munich) B

DAY 3             MUNICH TO LAKE BLED

Travel from Munich by train to the Lesce-Bled station. Lake Bled is a historic mountain resort with magnificent scenery. Enjoy sweeping alpine panoramas, medieval architecture, and a relaxing lakeside promenade. (Overnight in Lake Bled) B

DAY 4             LAKE BLED

Located high above the shoreline on a rocky cliff, Bled Castle keeps a watchful eye over the shimmering, blueish-green lake. To explore the castle, you’ll cross a drawbridge and walk through a Gothic arch. Once inside, you’ll be surprised by the amount of things there is to do. From one of the courtyards, take in the stunning backdrop of the Julian Alps and the Karavanke. (Overnight in Lake Bled) B

DAY 5             LAKE BLED

Take a stroll around Lake Bled and have a picnic or take photos of the postcard-perfect landscapes. You can also spend the afternoon taking a traditional pletna boat out to Bled Island and visiting the 17th-century Baroque Church of the Assumption before finishing up your time in town by trying a slice of cream cake known as Kremna Rezina. DAY 6             LAKE BLED TO SALZBURG

Catch your direct train from Lesce-Bled station to Salzburg. Famous for being the main filming location for The Sound of Music, this region boasts breathtaking settings. (Overnight in Salzburg) B

DAY 7             SALZBURG
Take a stroll through Salzburg’s cobbled streets, wander through the storybook Old Town to see Kapitelplatz and Residenzplatz or visit the Salzburg Cathedral and see where Mozart was born.
