When you arrive in Sestri Levante, take in the beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and explore the town’s best landmarks and attractions. You’ll have the chance to take a regional train on your own to Cinque Terre to get to know its many unforgettable, picturesque villages. Your final night will be in the port city of Genoa, where you can stroll through the bustling promenade and enjoy pistachio ice cream along the seafront.

DAY 1 – FLORENCE
Welcome to Florence! When you arrive, check into your hotel and get settled. Then, why not take a relaxing stroll around the charming Boboli Gardens? You may wish to soak up the local architecture and visit some of the city's iconic churches, such as Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce. Or visit to the Duomo Basilica and marvel at its beautiful frescoes and spectacular dome that dominates the city's skyline. (Overnight in Florence) B

DAY 2 - FLORENCE
After breakfast this morning, head to the popular Uffizi Gallery and see the Renaissance works of great artists such as Botticelli, Raphael and Michelangelo. Or visit to the Duomo Basilica and marvel at its beautiful frescoes and spectacular dome that dominates the city's skyline. Why not visit the museums housed at the Pitti Palace or enjoy a famous gelato as you stroll through the city's lively piazzas? Admire the charming views along the River Arno and cross the city's oldest bridge, the 14th century Ponte Vecchio. This evening, be sure to sample some authentic Tuscan cuisine on your own, including a glass of wine from the hills that surround the city. DAY 3 - FLORENCE
After breakfast, why not head out and shop for quality Italian goods at the San Lorenzo Street Market, where you will find leather products, belts, jackets and bags on offer. In the evening, enjoy a fine meal and a glass of wine in Santa Croce, or in one of the other charming neighborhoods the city is known for. (Overnight in Florence) B

DAY 4 – FLORENCE TO SESTRI LEVANTE
Enjoy breakfast this morning, then travel on your own to the station to Pisa. When you arrive at Pisa Centrale railway station, you’ll have about an hour or so (talk to your Rail Specialist for suggestions, such as seeing the leaning tower of Pisa) before you board your scenic train to the Ligurian town of Sestri Levante on the Italian Riviera. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and start exploring this beautiful destination on the Mediterranean Sea. There is so much to discover! The town features a romantic harbor, seafront promenade, intriguing history, delicious cuisine and tranquil beaches such as Portobello. (Overnight in Sestri Levante) B

DAY 5 – SESTRI LEVANTE
Enjoy breakfast and then continue getting to know this lovely gem of a town. Visit the Palazzo Cambiaso, The Galleria Rizzi (famed art museum), the ruins of the Oratory of Santa Caterina, and the chapel of San Nicolo in Isola. Check out Via XXV aprile for a taste of Sestri Levante’s boutique shops, restaurants and cafes.

Why not stop by the Panificio Tosi bakery and try some authentic focaccia, a Ligurian bread specialty? In the evening, head to a charming restaurant on your own and take in the scenic harbor. (Overnight in Sestri Levante) B

DAY 6 - SESTRI LEVANTE
Today, have breakfast and then experience more of the sights, experiences, and flavors of Sestri Levante! Maybe stop by the Bay of Silence and relax while looking out to sea. If you’re up for more of an adventure, perhaps take a regional train on your own down the coast to Cinque Terre. Let’s just say it’s worth a visit. It’s that beautiful! One of the most famous villages is Riomaggiore. Don’t forget to try some fried seafood in a cone from Il Pescato Cucinato or Tutti Fritti, and bring your camera! (Overnight in Sestri Levante) B

DAY 7 - SESTRI LEVANTE TO GENOA
After breakfast, travel on your own to the station and board your train up the coast to Genoa. Check into your hotel for a one-night stay and then begin sightseeing. Visit the neighborhood of Boccadasse, located at the end of the Corso Italia promenade and easily accessible from central Genoa, for a leisurely walk along the seafront. Other must-see landmarks and attractions include Basilica della Santissima Annunziata del Vastato, Genoa’s historic city center, La Lanterna (the old lighthouse), Palazzi dei Rolli, Piazza Caricamento, or Via Garibaldi 12. Then, head to Via Cairoli for a refreshing Italian favorite—pistachio ice cream. (Overnight in Genoa) B

DAY 8 – END OF TOUR
After breakfast this morning, check out of your hotel and continue with your travels. If you wish to extend your vacation, perhaps with an additional day in a different city, one of our Rail Vacation Specialists will be happy to assist you with the details. B
