Trip Overview

Travel to Canada in the winter for some of the most unique experiences in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. After exploring Toronto, board VIA Rail and travel west to Rockies. Jasper is a winter wonderland and there you will enjoy the winter wildlife and descend to the bottom of Maligne Canyon for an icewalk through frozen waterfalls and ice caves. Continue your cross Canada journey on VIA Rail winding through the snow-capped Mountains to the coastal city of Vancouver.

DAYS 3 & 4 VIA RAIL
Continue your journey across Canada on VIA Rail traveling through the prairies to the Canadian Rockies. (Overnight onboard VIA Rail)

DAY 5 JASPER
Welcome to Jasper, a scenic mountain town nestled in the Canadian Rockies. (Overnight in Jasper)

DAY 6 JASPER
Today, a Winter Wildlife Discovery Tour of Jasper National park is included. Your knowledgeable guide will seek out all of the park's most iconic wildlife, you may see Elk, deer, sheep, coyotes, and moose and more! You'll also learns about the history, geology, and ecology of the area. (Overnight in Jasper).

DAY 7 JASPER
Enjoy a truly unique experience today with your Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour. You'll be taken you to the bottom of Maligne Canyon, the deepest accessible canyon in Jasper National Park, where you will explore frozen waterfalls, ice caves, and incredible ice formations. (Overnight in Jasper)

DAY 8 JASPER TO VANCOUVER
Relax at your hotel in the morning or visit some of the local shops and cafes before departing for Vancouver. Board VIA Rail’s The Canadian to continue your journey through the majestic Canadian Rockies reliving train travel in the days of old as you are rocked to sleep tonight in your private accommodations. Enjoy dinner as the train whisks you past Moose Lake and the peaks of Mt. Robson and the Monashee Mountains. Relax in the dome car and experience stunning 360-degree views of the mountain scenery all around you. (Overnight aboard VIA Rail)

DAY 9 VANCOUVER
Head to the dining car for a freshly prepared breakfast and enjoy the stunning views of central British Columbia. As the train winds its way along the walls of the Fraser Canyon and through the Cascade and Coastal mountains, enjoy lunch as you look down to the Fraser River and catch a glimpse of the raging rapids of Hell’s Gate. Prior to arriving in Vancouver, take in the agricultural heartland of the Fraser Valley as it approaches the mighty Pacific Ocean. When you arrive in Vancouver, the rest of the day is yours to explore the city! Take a stroll to the Vancouver Lookout for a birds-eye view of the city and surrounding landscapes.
