DAY 1 - ARRIVE ZURICH
Arrive in Zurich and check in for an overnight stay at your hotel. Maybe peruse the shops along the Bahnhofstrasse, famed as one of the most attractive shopping streets in the world or marvel at the works of Van Gogh, Rodin and Monet at the much-loved Kunsthaus art gallery. Alternatively, you may wish to learn about the history of Switzerland at the Landesmuseum. (Overnight in Zurich) B

DAY 2 - ZURICH TO INNSBRUCK
After breakfast this morning, take the train through the Swiss and Austrian Alps over the famed Arlberg Pass. This spectacular journey travels along the bank of Lake Zurich before you are greeted with spectacular Alpine scenery. You briefly pass through Liechtenstein before entering Austria. Travel along the Arlberg Pass, through mountain meadows and be delighted at every turn by the wonderful vistas. Upon arrival, check in for an overnight stay at your hotel. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, Innsbruck has gained a reputation as an impressive Austrian holiday destination due to its fantastic winter sporting events and impressive historical monuments. Visit the Hofkirche Innsbruck or the Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof), both popular landmarks dedicated to Maximilian I, before indulging in some local cuisine such as Speckknödel and Apfelstrudel. DAY 3 - INNSBRUCK TO MAYRHOFEN
Board the train today in Innsbruck for the short and incredibly scenic journey to Mayrhofen via the world-famous Zillertalbahn narrow gauge railway. The train changes in Jenbach and the remainder of the route will have you passing through the vast valley bottom, surrounded by verdant meadows and charming small towns. On arrival in Mayrhofen, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Spend the remainder of the day getting to know this diverse ski resort. (Overnight in Mayrhofen) B

DAY 4 - MAYRHOFEN
After breakfast this morning, set out to explore beautiful, walkable Mayrhofen. While the town is best known for its renowned winter skiing, there is much to discover any time of year. In the warmer months, take the cable cars to the top of the mountain for incredible views and lovely hikes and walks for all activity levels. In town, enjoy the gift shops, restaurants and cafes that line the streets.   (Overnight in Mayrhofen) B

DAY 5 - MAYRHOFEN TO HALLSTATT
Enjoy another scenic train journey today through Austrian valleys and mountain peaks as you travel from Mayrhofen to Hallstatt on the Zillertalbahn Railway. Take the scenic journey back through Jenbach, then board the Transalpin train and journey past the gorgeous lake side town of Zell am See. Make one additional change in Stainach-Irdning before arriving in Hallstatt. On arrival, check in at your hotel for a three-night stay and settle in for the evening. (Overnight in Hallstatt)B

DAY 6 - HALLSTATT
You may think you’ve left regular life and been transported into a fairy-tale while wandering through the pristine village of Hallstatt. Located on Lake Hallstatt’s western shore, it’s 16th century Alpine houses and alleyways are now home to inviting cafes and shops. The walkable village provides the perfect base for discovering the sights of the surrounding area as well. Take the funicular railway that connects to Salzwelten, an ancient salt mine with a subterranean salt lake, and experience the views at the Skywalk Hallstatt viewing platform. DAY 7 - OVERNIGHT IN HALLSTATT
After breakfast this morning, spend another day enjoying Hallstatt. Take the trail that leads to the Echern Valley Glacier Garden, a relic of the last Ice Age, formed as the glacier receded 12,000 years ago. Visit the mega ‘ice caves’ of nearby Krippenstein Mountain, formed over thousands of years as snow has melted into giant crevasses. Or take a paddle boat on the lake for incredible views of the village and the surrounding mountains. (Overnight in Hallstatt) B

DAY 8 - HALLSTATT TO SALZBURG
Spend another morning in Hallstatt before checking out of your hotel and boarding the train to Salzburg. Enjoy the scenic ride and on arrival in Salzburg, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. (Overnight in Salzburg) B

DAY 9 - SALZBURG
Take the day to enjoy the sights of Salzburg. Head for the old town looking over the Salzach River, with its cobbled streets of little shops. Fans of composer Mozart can visit his birthplace, now a museum dedicated to his life and work showcasing various fascinating exhibits. The city's Baroque Old Town is UNESCO World Heritage listed and dominated by the massive Festung Hohensalzburg, one of the largest medieval castles in Europe. (Overnight in Salzburg) B

DAY 10 – DEPART SALZBURG
Enjoy a final breakfast at your hotel before checking out and continuing with your onward travels. If you wish to extend your vacation, perhaps with an additional night in a particular destination, one of our Rail Experts would be happy to help you with all the details. B

Grand Hotel Europa Innsbruck

The Grand Hotel Europa in Innsbruck is a historic hotel with 112 bedrooms and suites decorated in either a traditional Tyrolean or modern Italian style. The hotel has an award-winnning restaurant called the Europa Stüberl, a bar and a fitness centre with a sauna and steam room. The hotel is in the centre of Innsbruck, opposite the main train station.

AC Hotel Innsbruck

The Hilton Innsbruck is a modern hotel with 176 contemporary bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and steam room, and the Casino Innsbruck is connected to the hotel. The hotel is close to the train station and a short walk from the old town area of Innsbruck.

Am Mirabellplatz Hotel Salzburg

Am Mirabellplatz is a traditional hotel, set in a historic building which was originally built as the residence for Archbishop Paris Lodron. The hotel has 72 comfortable bedrooms and a junior suite as well as a Chill-Out Lounge with complimentary drinks, snacks and newspapers. The hotel is a short walk from the Mirabell Gardens and the historic Old Town area across the Salzach River.

Swiss Night Am Kunsthaus Zurich

The Swiss Night am Kunsthaus is located within a quiet residential district and is close to the Kunthaus Museum and the Opera of Zurich. Lake Zurich is just a short walk away and all 46 bedroms are light, airy and spacious. The hotel also benefits from a fitness centre.

Du Theatre Zurich

The Hotel du Théâtre in Zurich is a historic hotel which was a theatre during the 1950s. Schweizerhof Hotel Zurich

The Schweizerhof Hotel in Zurich is a traditional family-run hotel, with 115 comfortable and elegant bedrooms. Guests are provided with a butler service on arrival (Monday to Friday), a welcome cocktail at the bar and fresh fruit in their bedroom.
