DAY 1 - ARRIVE IN VLADIVOSTOK
The first stop of your Mongolian/Russian adventure is Vladivostok, a military port located on the western shores of the Sea of Japan. Vladivostok, which is translated as “Ruler of the East,” is home to many principal military attractions, including a preserved World War II submarine. Upon your arrival, take your included transfer from the airport to the hotel and check in for your stay. Tonight, you will enjoy a welcome dinner featuring selected international wines to accompany your meal. The hotel in Vladivostok is the five-star Lotte Hotel. (Overnight in Vladivostok) D

DAY 2 - VLADIVOSTOK
Today, you will get a chance to see all the great sites Vladivostok has to offer. During your city tour, you will also see the iconic suspension bridge that spans over Golden Horn Bay. Tonight, you will board the Golden Eagle for your exciting journey through Mongolia and Russia. (Overnight onboard the Golden Eagle) B, L, D

DAY 3 - KHABAROVSK
Located 15 miles from the border of China, Khabarovsk stretches along the banks of the Amur River. Khabarovsk was founded as a military post in 1858, but the region had been populated by several indigenous peoples of the Far East for many centuries. It is now a busy city with gorgeous tree-lined streets. During your city tour, you will visit the memorial to Yerofey Pavlovich Khabarov, the Far East explorer the city is named after, and the impressive World War II memorial to the fallen soldiers. You will also have time at the Regional Museum where the local history has been well-preserved with a rich collection of artefacts describing the cultural and natural history of the region. DAY 4 - ONBOARD THE GOLDEN EAGLE
Spend a relaxing day onboard the Golden Eagle. Perhaps take a Russian language class if that piques your interest. Or, simply relax and enjoy the ever-changing landscape outside your window as it unfolds right before your eyes. (Overnight onboard the Golden Eagle) B, L, D

DAY 5 - ONBOARD THE GOLDEN EAGLE
Today, you will enjoy another leisurely day onboard the Golden Eagle. If you feel up to it, listen to a lecture on Russian history or learn about the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway. (Overnight onboard the Golden Eagle) B, L, D

DAY 6 - ULAN BAATAR
Welcome to Mongolia’s capital Ulaan Baatar! Tour Gandan Monastery, one of Mongolia’s most important Buddhist Monasteries housing a community of over 500 monks. See the central monument to Genghis Khan in Chinggis Square. Later today, you will have the option to take a drive out of the city to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park to soak in the beautiful scenery of wild Mongolia. Here, you will also have the opportunity to visit a traditional Ger and meet a nomadic family or try your hand at horse-riding, an intrinsic part of Mongolian life. If you opt to stay in the city instead of venturing out to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, you will visit the National Museum followed by the Bogd Khan Winter Palace Museum. After touring these attractions, you will get some free time for shopping. Tonight, before hopping back onboard the Golden Eagle, you will enjoy a performance of traditional Mongolian throat singing and contortionists. (Overnight onboard the Golden Eagle) B, L, D

DAY 7 - ULAN UDE
Gain a unique insight into the heritage of Ulan Ude during your city tour. You will also get a chance to explore the Old Believers’ Village and learn about the culture and history of these religious people. Your tour also includes a special concert featuring local traditions and folk singing. (Overnight onboard the Golden Eagle) B, L, D

DAY 8 - LAKE BAIKAL
Lake Baikal is a major highlight of your Trans-Siberian journey. Known as the “Pearl of Siberia,” Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world and holds 20 percent of the world’s freshwater. It is also home to a unique breed of freshwater seal and over 50 species of fish, including omul. You will spend a full five hours winding your way through tunnels along cliff-hugging tracks above the lake with a vista of snow-capped mountain peaks along the shore. To add to the grandeur of the day our Golden Eagle train will be hauled by a Soviet Era steam locomotive on this beautiful section of line. Weather permitting, we stop in an extremely picturesque location by the lake for photographic opportunities. For the brave hearted, there is time for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear and ice-cold waters of Baikal. Travelling onwards to the end of the Baikal branch line, we leave the train and travel by boat on the lake to Listvyanka, a small Baikal settlement nestling at the base of the surrounding hills and visit the Lake Baikal Museum and Aquarium where you can learn about the flora and fauna of the lake. We will enjoy a delicious barbecue prepared by our own chefs, including freshly smoked omul fish, in the delightful covered dining area on the shore of Lake Baikal to complete a memorable day. DAY 9 - IRKUTSK
Welcome to Irkutsk, the “Paris of Siberia.” You will spend the day touring Irkutsk’s most significant sites and museums. Be sure to soak in the classic wooden architecture with its intricately carved lace-like decorations that has given many of this region’s buildings such a distinctive and unique appearance. You will also tour the Volkonsky House Museum, which is dedicated to the memory of the aristocrats who were exiled to this remote outpost after the failed Decembrists uprising of 1825. After touring this fascinating museum, you will be treated to a recreation of that time period along with a champagne reception and private concert. Later today, you will get the option to cook some traditional Russian dishes with a local chef and prepare your own lunch. Or, you can visit a traditional Russian Dacha (summer house) to get an insight into the everyday life of an average Russian family. (Overnight onboard the Golden Eagle) B, L, D

DAY 10 - ONBOARD THE GOLDEN EAGLE
Spend a relaxing day onboard the train unwinding and reflecting on the many sights and sounds you have experienced on your journey so far. (Overnight onboard the Golden Eagle) B, L, D

DAY 11 - NOVOSIBIRSK
Experience the life and character of Novosibirsk’s rich culture. The city is located in the heart of Russia and is situated on both banks of the River Ob. Your city tour includes a stop in Lenin Square where the imposing Opera House is located. An architectural marvel, it houses two permanent ballet and opera companies and is one of the largest opera houses in the world. Later today (time permitting), you will have the option to visit Novosibirsk’s excellent Railway Museum. The museum displays locomotives and rolling stock from the late 1800s through the Soviet era, including carriages of the Tsars, Or, you can venture out to the Mineralogical Center with its fine display of Siberian minerals (Overnight onboard the Golden Eagle) B, L, D

Day 12 - YEKATERINBURG
Yekaterinburg is a fascinating city. Founded in 1723 by Peter the Great, Yekaterinburg is the capital of the Urals and known as the Great Divide where the continents of Europe and Asia come together. You will embark on a city tour that includes the heartbreaking site where the Romanov, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia was executed with his family by the Bolsheviks in 1918 following 78 days of imprisonment. Now a church dedicated to their memory, this site provides us with a powerful insight into the turmoil of the Russian Revolution. You will also enjoy a leisurely drive to the monument marking the geographical border between Europe and Asia, where you can enjoy a glass of champagne with one foot in each continent. Day 13 - KAZAN
Today, you will tour the picturesque and historic city of Kazan. Situated on the River Volga, this capital of Tatarstan is a rich tapestry of history and culture. One of the many sites you will see today is Kremlin Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will explore its stunning mosque and picture-perfect onion-domed cathedral. Later in the day, you will be treated to a private concert featuring the music of Russia’s most famous opera singers, Feodor Chaliapin. You will also have some free time to explore the pedestrian area of Kazan. (Overnight onboard the Golden Eagle) B, L, D

DAY 14 - MOSCOW
During your time in Moscow today, enjoy guided visits to the Kremlin and Red Square as well as an exclusive private viewing of the treasures of the Tsars in the Armoury Chamber. Lunch will be served in Café Pushkin, a legendary Moscow restaurant serving traditional Russian cuisine and featuring signature early 19th-century mansion décor. Upon arrival at Moscow Kazansky Station in the late afternoon, you will be greeted in the ornately decorated Imperial Waiting Room with a cold glass of Russian Champagne and canapes as you mix with the other guests and are welcomed by the train staff. The excitement in the waiting room audibly mounts and, 30 minutes before departure, your car attendants will escort you to Platform 1 where the Golden Eagle awaits ready for departure. DAY 15 - DEPART MOSCOW
After breakfast this morning, check out of your hotel and take your included transfer to the airport where you tour concludes. Please talk to a rail specialist to add your connecting flights and if you wish to extend your vacation. B
