Spend three days exploring the sights of the city before journeying by rail from Avignon along the beautiful French Riviera before arriving into Nice. Daily Itinerary:

DAY 1 – ARRIVE IN AVIGNON
Welcome to Avignon! Check in at your hotel for a three-night stay and begin to uncover the beauty of this historic city. Soak up the blissful vistas of the region in the heart of Provence, exploring UNESCO-listed landmarks and pretty backstreets as you wander. (Overnight in Avignon)

DAY 2 - AVIGNON

After breakfast at your hotel this morning, make use of your included tickets and explore Avignon's most famous and historic building - the impressive Palace of the Popes, built in the 14th century. Then head over to the Pont d'Avignon, the bridge made famous by the song of the same name and a wonderful spot for vistas of the River Rhône. Discover the charm of the city's ancient streets and the courtyards of its private mansions before relaxing in one of the fantastic restaurants Avignon has to offer. (Overnight in Avignon). B

DAY 3 - AVIGNON
After breakfast, continue your adventures in Avignon today.  Take a walk through the Petit Palais and nearby Palais du Roure museums as well as the city's thriving street scene Be sure to also visit the famed Place De l'Horloge, the city's central square and the perfect spot for shopping, people watching and sipping on a fine glass of Côtes du Rhône wine. DAY 4 - AVIGNON TO NICE
Board the TGV train and travel south through the landscapes of Provence before continuing along the French Riviera and the Mediterranean coast with its glamorous villas and golden beaches. Check in at your hotel in Nice for a three-night stay. Spend the evening enjoying traditional cuisine in one of the charming restaurants in Nice. The boulevards are lined with cozy eateries serving fantastic dishes featuring fresh fish, cheeses and of course, local wine. (Overnight in Nice). B

DAY 5 - NICE
After breakfast at your hotel, get your bearings of the charming town of "Nice la belle" with a 3hr guided tour. Blessed with a sunny, temperate climate, Nice offers beautiful beaches, luxurious seaside dining and plenty of opportunities for shopping. Not to be missed is the flower and food market in the centre of the Old Town. For some culture, visit the Chagall and Matisse galleries to experience the colorful works of these two famous French artists. (Overnight in Nice). B

DAY 6 – NICE
No trip to Nice is complete without a wander down the Promenade des Anglais, the city's most famous street. The palm tree-lined boulevard was built in the 19th century for English residents to stroll along the sea front. Wander along the seafront for views over the Mediterranean, admire the grand hotels, or watch the world go by from one of the cafés or restaurants. (Overnight in Nice). B

DAY 7 – DEPART NICE
After breakfast this morning, check out of your hotel and continue with your travels. If you wish to extend your vacation, perhaps with an additional day in a different city, one of our Rail Vacation Experts will be happy to assist you with the details. B

De L'Horloge Avignon

The Hotel de l'Horloge is a modern hotel with a 19th century façade. The 66 bedrooms are modern and comfortable with individually controlled air-conditioning. It is located in the heart of historical Avignon, a short walk from the Palais de Papes, and close to the restaurants and bars in the centre of Avignon.

The Ellington Hotel in Nice offers 119 charming bedrooms and suites in the centre of the city. It also features a bar straight out of the swing era, a cosy library and a patio. The hotel is close to the Old Town area of Nice and a short walk from the seafront Promenade des Anglais.
