Trip Overview

Daily Itinerary:

DAY 1 – ARRIVE IN AIX-EN-PROVENCE
Welcome to Aix-en-Provence. Upon arrival, check into your hotel for a three-night stay. Surrounded by picturesque countryside and famous for its fantastically preserved architecture, Aix-en-Provence has an abundance of sightseeing opportunities. Take a walk through the Cours Mirabeau and visit the 17th and 18th century mansions, decorated with ancient fountains and beautiful flowers. (Overnight in Aix-en-Provence) B

DAY 2 - AIX-EN-PROVENCE
Enjoy a second day in this charming city. Stroll through the Quartier Mazarin and its narrow streets or follow in the great artist Cezanne's footsteps with a trip to his museum or a private tour of some of his most famous works. Enjoy delicious French cuisine and relax in the Mediterranean climate. (Overnight in Aix-en-Provence) B

DAY 3 - AIX-EN-PROVENCE
If travelling during July and August you’ll enjoy a tour of the nearby lavender fields which make this area so famous.  The incredible stretches of lavender provide a riot of colour and scent which is an experience to behold.  A visit to a local farmers’ shop also provides the opportunity to take a little bit of this very special product home with you.  Outside of this time, enjoy another day exploring Aix and perhaps speak to your sales consultant about a tour of the local hilltop villages of Luberon. DAY 4 - AIX-EN-PROVENCE TO NICE
After breakfast, travel through Provençal countryside and along the sparkling Côte d'Azur as you journey from Aix-en-Provence to Nice by train. On arrival, check at your hotel for a three-night stay. Nice offers beautiful beaches, luxurious seaside dining and plenty of opportunity for shopping and sightseeing. Settle into your hotel and then head out to begin your exploration. DAY 5 - NICE
Enjoy visiting the Chagall and Matisse galleries to discover the colorful works of these two famous French artists. Wander through Vieux Nice to discover traditional French architecture and the daily markets selling flowers, gifts and fresh Niçoise delicacies. Alternatively, visit the 19th century Palais Massena featuring impressionist paintings and folk art. (Overnight in Nice)

DAY 6 - NICE
After breakfast at your hotel this morning, perhaps relax on a sandy beach and admire the views of the Mediterranean Sea? After that, peruse the designer shops along the Promenade des Anglais and end the day with a delicious sunset meal at one of the many restaurants that line the waterfront. (Overnight in Nice) B

DAY 7 – DEPART NICE
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and continue with your travels. If you wish to extend your vacation, perhaps with an additional day in a different city, one of our Rail Vacation Specialists will be happy to assist you with the details. B
