Verbania
Known as the "garden on the lake" due to its location on the shores of Lake Maggiore, Verbania is famous for its stunning gardens and natural beauty. The Villa Taranto Botanical Gardens cover an area of nearly 40 acres and boast around 20,000 species of plants from all over the world. The city was created by the 1939 merger of the cities of Intra, Pallanza and Suna which was once home to the English aristocracy and the wealthy Lombard bourgeoisie. They resided in Verbania for many years leading to the inclusion of many beautiful villas in the area.
