Biarritz

‘The Pearl of the Basque Coast,’ Biarritz is famous for music, dance, cinema, and surfing with an impressive 4 miles of beaches. Located in the Bay of Biscay, and once a favorite destination for visiting European royalty, the town is still considered a luxurious seaside resort with its grand hotels, casinos, and golden beaches. You can still see the palace built for Empress Eugenie (wife of Napoleon III) which is now the grand Hôtel du Palais, and also her Chapelle Imperiale with its intricately decorated interior. Don’t miss the views from the Pointe Sainte Martin and be sure to see a symbol of Biarritz, the Rocher de la Vierge is a rocky outcrop topped with a statue of the Virgin Mary.
