Take breakfast and keep your eye out for the wildlife - including elk - as the train moves towards the Rockies. You pass through small towns like Clear Water and Blue River, which are ideal places to experience the great Canadian outdoors. By lunchtime you are at Valemont, which is where you meet the Rockies close-up and towering above you is Mount Robson - the highest point in the Rockies at just under 4,000 metres.

Winnipeg pulls into view in the evening and again you can stop off for a few hours to have a look around at Manitoba's capital.
From Winnipeg it's lakes and forests all the way to Toronto, passing through many small towns, such as Armstrong, Hornepayne and Sudbury, where fur traders and mineralogists built up Canada's interior. You cross the Canadian "shield", the billion year old bedrock that covers this region of Canada, before arriving in Toronto, one of Canada's most metropolitan cities and the capital of Ontario.
