Itinerary - 4 Night Holiday By Rail
Day 1 - Travel to Interlaken
TGV Est
Take the Eurostar from London to Paris, where you transfer to the Gare de L'Est for the high speed TGV train through eastern France all the way to Basel in Switzerland. Once in Basel change onto the direct train to Interlaken in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
Check intol the Hotel du Nord, where you will stay overnight.
Interlaken
One of the oldest and most popular resorts in Switzerland, Interlaken provides an excellent base for exploring the beauty of the surrounding area. Interlaken is located between two lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and offers fantastic views of the magnificent Jungfrau Mountains.
Day 2 - Jungfraujoch Excursion
Jungfraujoch
In the morning you take the scenic railway up the Jungfrau mountain via Lauterbrunnen. Once at the top you are at the highest train station in Europe at 3454 metres above sea level. This is a unique journey which takes you on a cog railway to Kleine Scheidegg before climbing to Jungfraujoch, where you have incredible views (on a clear day) over the Vosges Mountains in France and the Black Forest in Germany.
Travel back down the Jungfraujoch via Kleine Scheidegg and the traditional mountain village of Grindewald for your second night at the du Nord Hotel.
Four day Swiss Pass Included. You have a four day Swiss Pass included in your holiday which entitles you to unlimited travel on boats and trains as well as free public transport in Interlaken and Lucerne.
Day 3 - Golden Pass Line to Lucerne
Golden Pass
After breakfast you travel on the scenic Golden Pass Line to Lucerne. The Golden Pass train travels alongside the shores of five lakes, before climbing up to the Brünig Pass and eventualy ending in historic Lucerne.

Lucerne
After checking in to the hotel you have time to spend the afternoon in charming Lucerne. You can explore the old town's classical Swiss architecture, including the stunning Baroque Jesuit church and the medieval Chapel Bridge. Or just enjoy the waterfront by hiring a bike or wandering along the elegant promenade.
Day 4 - Mount Pilatus Excursion
Mount Pilatus
After a short boat cruise from Lucerne to Alpnachstad, the steepest rack railway in the World will take you to Mount Pilatus. The cog-train runs from June to September and during the winter months a postal coach will take you from Lucerne to Kriens and from there a gondola awaits to take you to Pilatus. The views from the top offer a breathtaking Alpine panorama, which can be enjoyed from one of the mountain top restaurants. As well as the spectacular vistas from the top there is also central Switzerland's biggest suspension rope park and the longest taboggan run in Switzerland.
Travel back from Mount Pilatus for your second night at the Waldstatterhof hotel.
Day 5 - Lucerne to London
Basel
After a morning in Lucerne, take the train to Basel before connecting on to the high speed TGV Lyria train to Paris and then home on the Eurostar.

Lucerne
Lucerne enjoys a stunning setting on the shore of Lake Lucerne, it also has the attractive River Reuss running through it. This, combined with the city’s fascinating medieval architecture makes it a popular tourist destination. Take a stroll through the old town, cross 14th century bridges and sigh over “The dying Lion of Lucerne.”
