Itinerary - 4 Night Holiday By Rail
Day 1 - Strasbourg
Tgv to Strasbourg
Travel to Paris by Eurostar. Enjoy a couple of hours free time in Paris and then hop straight on the high speed TGV Est train to Strasbourg (journey time 2 hours 20 minutes).
Railbookers Recommends asking for a price to upgrade your rail travel to 1st class for larger seats and a more comfortable journey.
Check in at the Mercure Strasbourg Quartier Saint Jean which is right in the centre of Strasbourg for your overnight stay.
Strasbourg
Spend the rest of the day discovering the sights and sounds of Strasbourg. Strasbourg is a fascinating and historical cty, with a beautiful medieval centre. Visit the impressive Notre Dame cathedral, the 17th century Palais Rohan and Petite France, home to Strasbourg's prettiest and most photogenic streets and buildings.
Day 2 - Strasbourg to Interlaken
Interlaken
After breakfast take the TGV Lyria train onwards to Basel before connecting on to the Swiss Railways Intercity Train to Interlaken.
On arrival check-in for 3 nights at the Hotel du Nord.
The Hotel du Nord is a traditional hotel with 46 bedrooms, situated in the centre of Interlaken and within easy walking distance of the train station. The hotel is entirely non-smoking and has a restaurant, a bar and the oldest wine-cellar in Interlaken!
Day 3 - Jungfrau Excursion
Jungfrau Excursion
Day 3, travel to Europe's highest altitude railway station on the Jungfrau mountain (3454 metres). This is a unique trip which takes you to Kleine Scheidegg before climbing to the station at Eigergletscher, well known for its mountain restaurant and Huskies.
After spectacular sightseeing through large observation windows hewn from solid Alpine rock, you arrive at the Jungfraujoch, where you have incredible views (on a clear day) to the Vosges Mountains in France and the Black Forest in Germany. The Great Aletsch Glacier, at 22 km the longest ice-stream in the Alps, begins on the Jungfrau Mountain. Travel back from the Jungfrau for your second night at the Du Nord Hotel in Interlaken.
Day 4 - Interlaken
Interlaken
Spend the day exploring the Interlaken region, take a boat trip around Lake Thun or Lake Brienz and in summer why not take the funicular up Mount Harder for views of Jungfrau, Monch, and Eiger mountains.
You spend your third night at the Du Nord Hotel.
Day 5 - Interlaken to London
Basel
Leave Interlaken in the morning and take the train to Basel where you connect with the high speed TGV Lyria back to Paris.
In Paris change onto Eurostar to the UK.

Interlaken
Set in a valley and between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, Interlaken is an excellent base to explore Switzerland. Sail on the lake, paraglide from the nearby mountains, or simply enjoy the mountain views.
