Itinerary - 6 Night Holiday By Rail
Day 1 - London to Montpellier
Board the Eurostar and speed under the Channel before arriving in Lille.
Take the high-speed TGV from Lille to Montpellier. Journey time is approximately 5 hours. Enjoy stunning French countryside and experience the beauty of the Rhone Valley and Provence whilst relaxing in your seat!
Check in at the Holiday Inn Montpellier.
Spend your evening in this elegant city in the heart of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, only a stone’s throw from the sun-kissed Mediterranean sea. Its sunny climate provides a vibrant social scene full of artists and writers. Montpellier has plenty to offer when it comes to a tasty meal. Rue des Ecoles Laiques and nearby rue du Pila Saint Gely offer a variety of choices, including Italian, Moroccan, Turkish, Lebanese and of course French cuisine.
Day 2 - Montpellier to Figueres
Travel from Montpellier to Figueres passing the pretty town of Perpignan en route to the border towns of Cerbere (France) and Port Bou (Spain). After the border, catch glimpses of isolated coastline coves and Catalan villages before arriving in Figueres.

Famous as the birthplace of the celebrated Salvador Dali, Figueres is a small town with a big history. Open your eyes to some of Dali’s most fascinating surrealist works and explore his musuem, a one-of-a-kind experience full of interactive artistic works and creative optical games! Don’t miss out on other Dali attractions such as the Casa-Museu de Portlligat in Cadaques, his official residence from 1948 to 1982.

Day 3 - Figueres

Spend the following day in Figueres discovering the rest of this charming town.
Treat yourself to a lunch of traditional tapas and a glass of local wine or take a stoll though the Castle of Sant Ferran, built in 1743 during the reign of Ferdinand VI of Spain.
Costa Brava

Thanks to its fabulous weather and natural sandy beaches such as the Empuriabrava and Roses, this is the perfect place to soak up the sun and only 10km from Figueres! Day 4 - Figueres to Girona
Make the brief 20 minute journey from Figueres to Girona passing through picturesque Catalan countryside.

Spend the rest of your day exploring the sights and sounds of the charming city of Girona. Packed with activity and plenty of sightseeing opportunities, Girona is a Catalonian treasure. The Old Town is one of the most evocative historical centres in the country boasting unique artifacts such as the Carolingian wall and the Cathedral, one of the finest specimens of Gothic architecture in Spain.
Day 5 - Girona
Girona
Spend day 2 in Girona uncovering the rest of the city's delights. Take a leisurely stroll around Girona’s city walls, built in the 9th Century AD, a wonderful way to discover some of the city’s vast history. Although parts of the wall have been destroyed in battles across the years breathtaking views await those who wish to climb it. Spend your last evening in Girona sipping a glass of Cava and enjoying a traditional Catalan meal.
Barcelona

Day 6 - Girona to Lille
Girona to Lille
Travel back through the Spanish countryside and across the border to France whizzing past vineyards and lemon groves as you travel. Change on to your TGV train at Montpellier and continue to Lille.
Check in at the Crowne Plaza Lille for a well deserved rest.
Day 7 - Lille to London
Lille
Spend the morning in Lille, soaking up the atmosphere in the Grand Place or doing some last minute shopping before taking the Eurostar back to London.

Montpellier
Situated on the Mediterranean coast and capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, Montpellier is the eigth biggest city in France with one of the most vibrant cultures. The main focal point is the Place de la Comedie, an impressive 18th Century Square perfect for people watching and enjoying the sights and sounds of Montpellier. The city is full of medieval buildings such as the Arc de Triumph, built in honour of Louis XIV in 1691 and the Tour de la Babote, a historic tower now converted into a observatory for the Sociata des Royale des Sciences. Its sunny climate, well-preserved vineyards and mountain vistas create a beautiful back-drop for this vibrant and eclectic city.
Figueres
Famous as the birthplace of Salvador Dali, Figueres is a town of artistic inspiration and Catalunyan history. Highlights include the fantastic Dali Museum, full of interactive artworks, the Castle of Sant Ferran, built in 1743 during the reign of Ferdinand VI of Spain, and the Parish church of St. Peter built in impressive Gothic fashion. Tasty home-made tapas and local wines are available throughout the town. The Costa Brava is just a short 10km away, boasting beautiful beaches such as Empuriabrava and Roses all surrounded by the stunning National Park of Aiguamolis de L’Emporda.
Girona
Formally known as the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, Girona is attractively located bordering the Provinces of Barcelona and Lleida, as well as the Mediterranean sea. Due to its turbulent history, from the discovery of Girona by the Iberians to the 12th century Jewish Community and finally its capture by Napoleon, the city is now full of historic and cultural beauty. Visit the city walls, Girona’s stunning Gothic cathedral and one of the many art galleries or museums the city has to offer. Girona is particularly well-known for its tasty, traditional Mediterranean cuisine and of course its locally produced Cava wine!
Lille
Just 1 hour 20 minutes from London by Eurostar, Lille is great for shopping (stock up on French cheeses), and some of the best museums and art galleries in France outside Paris.
