Vienna

Vienna

Vienna is the capital of Austria, and is a charming and vibrant city as well as a city of culture and music. Great composers like Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert lived in Vienna. The city’s beautiful architecture offers a romantic setting. Wander along narrow medieval alleyways, relax in a coffee house or spend an evening in a traditional wine tavern.

Salzburg

Salzburg

The historic city of Salzburg is dominated by the hilltop Hohensalzburg Fortress, and distant views of the Alps. Famous for "The Sound of Music" and Mozart you can enjoy Salzburg's musical heritage and visit the baroque old town.

Munich

Munich

Munich is one of the most picturesque cities in Germany and, set in the heart of Bavaria, can offer travellers an unforgettable experience.

After the pounding that the city received during the Second World War, Munich was rebuilt almost entirely into one of the most modern and stylish cities in Germany.

And for history fans, there is still plenty of heritage in this Bavarian city to keep them interested. The old town hall, for example, dates from the 15th century and currently houses a toy museum which contains items from the early part of the 19th century.

The centrepiece of the city has to be Marienplatz, with its wealth of bars and restaurants which dot the streets leading to and from the square. It is also the site of the majestic new town hall, with its central spire reaching up into the sky.

The new town hall is a large gothic building which is famed for its still-working Glockenspiel, where figures perform the Schläffertanz or cooper's dance, which was first performed in the square in 1517 to celebrate the end of the plague in the city.

Away from the town centre, where many shops and restaurants can be found, there are a number of large parks where a relaxing time can be spent in the Bavarian sun. For one, there is the OlympiaPark, which has rolling hills, a lake where displays are often held and the magnificent Olympic Stadium. Another is the English Garden, a sprawling park perfect for a relaxing stroll.
