Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna
Discover Austria's high baroque cities - Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna. Spend 2 nights in each city, and travel between cities by train, admiring the Austrian countryside from your train seat!
Innsbruck is ringed by high Alpine mountains and situated on the fast flowing River Inn. Innsbruck is ideal for strolling around, with most of its attractions located in the Aldstadt including the famous Golddenes Drachal, the Domkirche and the Hofburg. Visit the ski jump built for the 1976 Winter Olympics, where a funicular railway will take you to the top for wonderful views of the city.
Salzburg is packed full of historical buildings and is internationally famous as the birthplace of Mozart. It is hard to escape this fact with regular concerts held in Baroque churches and other public buildings. Salzburg's Old Town is famous for its baroque architecture, and is a UNESCO world heritage site.
Vienna is the capital of Austria, and is a vibrant city as well as a city of culture and music. Great composers like Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert lived in Vienna. Wander along narrow medieval alleyways, relax in a coffee house and don't miss a trip on the Ferris Wheel (made famous by the film "The Third Man") for views over the city, and Sachertorte (chocolate cake) at the Sacher Hotel.
