On arrival in Dijon check-in at the charming Phillipe Le Bon Dijon.

Spend the rest of your day in Dijon. Dijon was once the Roman settlement Divio, as well as being home to the Dukes of Burgundy from 1000 – 1400. Dijon remains the cultural centre it always was and has plenty to see and do as well as providing you with the opportunity to purchase that all important jar of mustard.

Day 2

Dijon to Lausanne

After a morning in Dijon take the TGV Lyria train across the Swiss border to Lausanne.

Once in Lausanne check in for 2 nights at the 4 star Alpha Palmiers, conveniently situated next to the train station.

Stretching across five hills, one of which is crowned by the gothic cathedral, Lausanne is a great city destination in its own right. Explore the car free cobbled streets of the old town, take a cruise on Lake Geneva on a paddlewheel steamer or go and visit the stunning Château de Chillon.

Day 3

The Chocolate Train

After breakfast, take the train to Montreux (approximately 20 minutes). On arrival, transfer onto the Chocolate Train. There are two different types of Chocolate Train carriages, modern panoramic carriages and vintage 1915 belle epoque carriages.

Travel through the vineyards around Montreux, before climbing up to the charming medieval town of Gruyère. A bus takes passengers from the train station to the Gruyère cheese factory, and there is also time for a visit to Gruyère castle.

From Gruyère the train travels to Broc, where the Nestlé Chocolate factory is located. You will be shown how chocolate is produced and enjoy an all important sampling!

Take the train back to Montreux, where you change onto the train to Lausanne for your second night at the Alpha Palmiers Hotel.
