Itinerary - 4 Night Holiday by Air + Rail
Day 1
Arrive to Rome
Fly from London to Rome with British Airways and check in at the Mascagni Rome for your 2 night stay. Located within easy reach of Rome's finest attractions, the Mascagni offers fabulous service within an Umbertine style palace.
Spend your afternoon in Rome, wandering through grand piazzas such as Piazza del Popolo, famous for its church of Santa Maria del Popolo by Raphael. Climb the steps of the Vittoriano, a huge white monument built as a tribute to a united Italy, for fantastic 360 degree views of one of the world's most photogenic cities. Finish your day with a tasty meal and of course, a famous Roman gelato.
Day 2
Rome
After breakfast, take a walk to the stunning Trevi fountain passing ancient relics and regal palazzos on your way. Head to Via Veneto for designer shopping and stop for a coffee in one of the delightful cafés.
Included within the price is a fantastic trip to the Vatican museums. Skip the queues and benefit from the experience of a knowledgeable guide whilst exploring the incredible museums within the Vatican walls. Share the stories and secrets of Michelangelo's Creation of Adam fresco, the Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica.
Day 3
Rome to Venice
From the Eternal City, take the Eurostar Italia train service to Venice. Speed through Florence, Bologna and Padova before travelling across the stunning lagoon and into Santa Lucia station.
Check in at the Ai Mori d' Oriente Hotel for your 2 night stay.
After check-in, treat yourself to a classic gondola ride through the maze of canals before tucking in to some cicchetti (Italian tapas), washed down with a glass of sparkling prosecco.
Day 4
Venice
This morning, climb St Mark’s Campanile for stunning views of the city, see the Grand Canal palazzos from the water with a gondola ride, get away from it all at the Peggy Guggenheim museum, hit the beach at the Lido or shop for Murano glass and Venetian carnival masks in one of the many boutiques.
Included in the price is a Venetian Walking Tour taking in some of incredible highlights of the city and a few hidden gems within the narrow passageways of the real Venice. Visit St Mark's Basilica, learn the history behind the famous Piazza San Marco and visit famous explorer Marco Polo's house on this fantastic tour.
Day 5
Venice to London
Fly from Venice to London with British Airways. Alternatively, Railbookers can arrange travel by train from Venice back to London via the beautiful scenery of the Swiss Alps.

Venice

The Ai Mori d'Oriente Hotel is a historic hotel set in a palace which was once home to Turkish merchants, known as the 'Mori'. The hotel and bedrooms are decorated in an exotic Byzantine style throughout; the Ai Mori d'Oriente also has a bar and a relaxing reading room. The hotel is located in one of the quietest parts of the city called Cannaregio, within walking distance of all the main sights.
