Due to engineering works, the Venice Simplon Orient-Express will be running along the Gotthard Pass rather than the Brenner Pass route through the Alps between June 13th and September 30th. This route offers equally stunning mountain scenery.

Itinerary - 6 Night Luxury Holiday by Air + Rail

Days 1 and 2

Paris

Travel with Eurostar from London to Paris, where you check-in at the Le Burgundy Paris for a 2 night stay.

Spend three days at leisure in Paris enjoying all the French capital has to offer. Take a trip up the famous Eiffel Tower at sunset for fabulous views across the city. Spend an afternoon shopping on the Champs Élysées, renowned for its designer delights or visit the famous white Basilique du Sacré Coeur, perched at the top of the butte de Montmartre.

Alternatively spend a cultured couple of hours sauntering around the stunning Louvre Museum or take a walk through Luxembourg Gardens for a true taste of Paris' great outdoors.

Day 3

Board the Venice Simplon Orient Express

Spend the day exploring Paris at your leisure and board the Venice Simplon Orient Express in the evening. Once your personal steward has shown you to your private compartment, you will be served a four-course dinner in one of the beautifully appointed restaurant cars. Enjoy a couple of drinks in the piano bar to round off your evening and then retire to your compartment, which has now been transformed into a cosy bedroom.

Day 4

Arrive in Venice

Breakfast on the Venice Simplon Orient Express is served in your compartment as you travel through the Swiss Alps. Spend the morning in the Bar Car chatting to fellow guests over coffee and then enjoy a four-course lunch, served in another of the restaurant cars. Relax in your compartment and admire the passing scenery as the train travels through the Italian Dolomites. Afternoon tea is served in your compartment as you travel through the Brenner Pass. Finally, prepare to disembark as the Orient Express crosses the Venetian Lagoon and pulls into Santa Lucia station.

On arrival at Venice Santa Lucia check in at the Luna Baglioni Venice for a 3 night stay.

Days 5 and 6

Venice

Stretched across 117 islands within the Venetian Lagoon, Venice is unique. Famed for its canals, its history and its ethereal beauty, this city continues to enchant visitors from all over the world, as it has done for centuries.

Climb St Mark’s Campanile for stunning views of the city, take a tour of the fascinating Doge’s palace and walk across the Bridge of Sighs, get away from it all at the Peggy Guggenheim museum, hit the beach at the Lido or shop for Murano glass and Venetian carnival masks in one of the many boutiques that line the narrow streets.

Day 7

Return to London

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before you fly with British Airways from Venice to London in Euro Traveller Class

Paris is one of the world’s most romantic cities, with something to offer every visitor. Explore the narrow winding streets of Montmartre, stroll along the grand Haussmann boulevards, shop until you drop along the Champs Élysées, visit world famous museums like the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay, get spectacular views from the top of the Eiffel Tower or the Sacré Coeur and in the evening, relax in a typical Parisian bistro.

Venice

Venice

With its unique atmosphere, Venice has entranced visitors for centuries. Get lost in the winding narrow streets and pretty little campos. You will always end up back at the Grand Canal, with its grand palazzos and distinctive stripped mooring poles. Don’t miss the spectacular St Mark’s Square with its ornate Basilica or the little boutiques on and around the Rialto Bridge.

Cabins
Private cabins on the Venice-Simplon Orient-Express have been restored to their former glory with original fixtures and fittings. Each carriage has its own dedicated steward who is available at all times to make your journey as comfortable as possible. Each cabin has two bunk beds and an original washbasin. The top bunk is folded away for day use and both beds are made up for the night with crisp linen and soft towels whilst guests are enjoying their evening meal in the restaurant cars. Toilet facilities are located at the end of each carriage and are maintained to the highest standards by the stewards.

Dining
All dishes are freshly prepared on the train by skilled French chefs. Lunch, dinner and brunch are served by the Italian waiters in one of the three individually styled Restaurant Cars: Lalique, Etoile du Nord or Chinoise. Breakfast and afternoon tea are served to passengers in the comfort of the train's luxury cabins. Table d'hôte meals are included in the fare, while an à la carte menu and 24-hour compartment service is available additionally. The Maitre D' will come to your cabin to take your lunch and dinner reservations in advance of your meal.
