Capital of Saxony, Dresden is arguably Germany's most attractive city with an abundance of Baroque architecture. Most of the city centre has been beautifully reconstructed after being destroyed by heavy bombing during World War II. The city's reconstruction also includes important works of modern architecture, such as Sir Norman Foster's new train station, which sit alongside renovated buildings such as the Frauenkirche Church.
During your stay, enjoy a city tour with highlights such as the Zwinger, which was once a setting for court festivities, the stunning architecture of the famous Frauenkirche and the views from the grand Brühl terrace which overlooks the Elbe River.
On your last day in Dresden, enjoy another morning at leisure, before rejoining the Orient Express after lunch. Afternoon tea and dinner are served, as you spend your final night on board.
The train arrives in Paris after breakfast and a delicious brunch is served in the restaurant cars as you travel on towards the French coast for the Channel crossing. On arrival in Folkestone join the cream and umber carriages of the British Pullman for the journey to London. A traditional English afternoon tea accompanied by a glass of champagne is served to you at your table and you watch the gentle scenery of Kent pass by. All to soon, you are drawing into London Victoria station.
