Please Note

Due to engineering works, the Venice-Simplon Orient-Express will be running along the Gotthard Pass rather than the Brenner Pass route through the Alps between June 13th and September 30th. This route offers equally stunning mountain scenery.

Itinerary - 5 Night Luxury Holiday by Air + Rail

Day 1

On Board the Orient Express

Board the historic, gleaming carriages of the British Pullman train at London Victoria station. Your steward will show you to your seat which is surrounded by stunning décor and memories of journeys gone by. Sit back and enjoy a three course lunch with wine and a Bellini as you travel throughout the pretty Kentish countryside. After crossing the channel to Calais, board the blue and gold carriages of the Continental Wagons-Lits.

After you have settled into your comfortable private compartment, where your personal steward will ensure you have everything you require, it will soon be time to dress for dinner. Visit the famous bar car for an Agatha Christie Bellini before moving on to one of the magnificent restaurant cars, where you will be served a delicious four-course dinner. After dinner, return to the bar car, where the sound of a baby Grand Piano will serenade you throughout the evening. Retire to your compartment for a well-earnt rest, which has now been transformed into a cosy bedroom by your steward.

Day 2

Through the Swiss Alps to Venice

Awake to the magnificent scenery of the Swiss Alps as a delicious continental breakfast is served in your compartment. Relax as the scenery rolls by or take a trip to the bar car for a coffee. At lunchtime, enjoy a leisurely three course meal served in another of the beautiful restaurant cars. Make a visit to the on board boutique to purchase souvenirs, or return to your compartment as the train travels through the Italian Dolomites. Later, your steward will bring a sumptuous afternoon tea. Prepare to disembark in the early evening as the train crosses the Venetian Lagoon and arrives at Santa Lucia station.

On arrival in Venice, check in at Centurion Palace for a 2 night stay.

Day 3

Venice

Stretched across 117 islands within the Venetian Lagoon, Venice is one of a kind. Famed for its artists, romance and beauty, Venice is never a disappointment whether you are visiting for the first time or many times. Spend your days discovering the numerous attractions of this enchanting City. St Martins Basilica, Piazza San Marco and the Doge's Palace to name a few. Treat yourself to a classic gondola ride through the maze of canals before tucking in to some cicchetti (Italian tapas), washed down with a glass of sparkling prosecco.

Day 4

Venice to Rome

After breakfast, sit back and relax on your first class journey to Rome. Pass quaint Italian villages and rolling fields before arriving at Rome Termini (journey time approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes). On arrival in Rome, check in at the stunning Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese.

Discover the Eternal City at your own pace. From the striking walls of the Colosseum to the sacred Vatican City, Rome is the largest open-air museum in the world. Stop for an ice-cream on the steps of the Trevi fountain or wait until dinner to enjoy a proper Roman pizza in one of the countless trattorias.

Day 5

Rome

Spend another day at your own pace in Rome.

Why not discover some of the beautiful museums of the city. The Vatican museum holds a superb collection as well as housing the Sistine Chapel. The Capitoline displays ancient Roman artefacts and the Borghese Gallery is world-renowned for its impressive artworks.

Day 6

Rome to London

Fly from Rome with British Airways to London.
