Itinerary - 6 Night Luxury Holiday by Rail

Day 1

London to Berlin

Travel from St Pancras International or Ebbsfleet International by Eurostar to Brussels and then connect on to the German ICE train to Berlin via Cologne. On arrival in Berlin check into the Adlon Kempinski Hotel for a 3 night stay.

You then have 3 nights to explore the fascinating city of Berlin, full of history, culture, fabulous buildings and museums, along with a wide range of excellent restaurants and bars and a strong tradition in the performing arts.

Days 2 and 3

Berlin

There is no better place to start in Berlin than the Berlin Wall. Symbolising the division between the capitalist West and communist East, sections of the wall can be visited at several locations, most notably at the East Side Gallery. Checkpoint Charlie also provides an emotional view of the wall's history.

The imposing Reichstag is another building with huge historical significance and a favourite among tourists. A climb up to the glass dome is recommended for the wonderful views, photographic exhibition and rooftop restaurant. Brandenburg Gate also has a fascinating past and is one of Germany's most recognisable symbols.

Day 4

Berlin to Prague

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before you take the Eurocity train from Berlin to Prague, which takes approximately 4 hours 45 minutes. Sit back and enjoy the views as the journey from Berlin to Prague follows the scenic Elbe river valley. On arrival in Prague check into the Kempinski Hybernska Prague for a 2 night stay.

Spend 2 nights discovering this not-so-hidden gem. Steeped in history and with a wide variety of attractions, Prague continues to delight visitors from all over the world.

Day 5

Prague

Prague city centre is divided into four districts: The New Town which encompasses Wenceslas Square, the neighbouring Old Town Quarter, the Jewish Quarter and the Lesser Quarter, home of Prague Castle, one of the city's most popular attractions. The castle contains the impressive crown jewels of the Bohemian Kingdom and was historically home to Holy Roman Emperors and Czech kings, although it now houses the presidential offices of the Czech Republic.

Architecture fans will be in their element in Prague with a wide variety of beautiful buildings spanning the styles of Art Nouveau, Baroque, Renaissance, Gothic, Cubist and Neo-Classical. The Old Town Square dates back to the 12th century and is one of many wonderful places to finish a busy day of discovering the city.

Day 6

Venice Simplon Orient Express from Prague

Board the splendid Wagons-Lits carriages of the Venice Simplon Orient Express at Prague Smichov station. Your steward will show you to your private compartment, before you enjoy a three-course lunch as you gaze at the beautiful passing scenery of the Italian Dolomites and the Austrian and Swiss Alps. Afternoon tea is served in your compartment. A four-course dinner is served in the evening.

Day 7

Arrive in London

The train arrives in Paris after breakfast and a delicious brunch is served in the restaurant cars as you travel on towards the French coast for the Channel crossing. On arrival in Folkestone join the cream and umber carriages of the British Pullman for the journey to London. A traditional English afternoon tea accompanied by a glass of champagne is served to you at your table and you watch the gentle scenery of Kent pass by. Suddenly, you are drawing into London Victoria station.
