Itinerary - 3 Night Deluxe Holiday by Rail

Day 1

Orient Express from London to Paris

Check in at the Orient Express lounge in London Victoria Station and watch the gleaming carriages of the British Pullman arrive. Take a seat at your reserved table to enjoy a sumptuous brunch served with Champagne Bellinis. Travel through green Kentish countryside before arriving in Folkestone. Cross the Channel and join the impressive Venice Simplon Orient Express in Calais where your steward will show you to your own private compartment. Sit back and relax as the train travels through Northern France. In the evening, take a walk to the Restaurant Car where you will be served a delicious four course dinner before your arrival in Paris.

On arrival, check in at the Hilton Arc de Triomphe Paris for your 2 night stay.

Day 2

Paris

Spend a day in Paris at your own leisure. With its striking monuments, wonderful architecture and fashionable shopping districts, Paris is a traveller's dream. Wander around the narrow lanes of Montmartre, shop till you drop in the Opera district, take a cruise along the river Seine for the best views of the city or just enjoy a cool demi pression and a croque monsieur at a pavement café.

Day 3

Paris to Versailles

Travel by private car from Paris to Versailles and check in at the Trianon Palace Versailles for your overnight stay. Renowned for its magnificent palace, Versailles is a not to be missed destination. The Château de Versailles is famous for its Hall of Mirrors (where the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919), its impressive gardens, its large art collection and the 'Hameau de la Reine', the faux rustic Normandy farm house built for Marie Antoinette in the palace grounds. Spend your evening relaxing in one of the classic and stylish restaurants of Versailles. Don’t miss the impressive light shows which surround the suburb in the summer months!

Day 4

Versailles to London

After breakfast, travel the short journey back through the French countryside to Paris (journey time approximately 20 minutes). Board the Eurostar and speed back under the Channel Tunnel to London.

Paris

Paris

Paris is one of the world’s most romantic cities, with something to offer every visitor. Explore the narrow winding streets of Montmartre, stroll along the grand Haussmann boulevards, shop until you drop along the Champs Élysées, visit world famous museums like the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay, get spectacular views from the top of the Eiffel Tower or the Sacré Coeur and in the evening, relax in a typical Parisian bistro.

Versailles

Versailles

Versailles is a city just outside Paris which is synonymous with the French monarchy who moved their court here in 1682. The Palace of Versailles was the centre of political power in France until the French Revolution. Admire the opulent interiors of the palace including the Grands Appartements and the Hall of Mirrors, wander around the magnificent Museum of the History of France and spend time exploring the palace’s beautiful formal gardens.

Cabins
Private cabins on the Venice-Simplon Orient-Express have been restored to their former glory with original fixtures and fittings. Each carriage has its own dedicated steward who is available at all times to make your journey as comfortable as possible. Each cabin has two bunk beds and an original washbasin. The top bunk is folded away for day use and both beds are made up for the night with crisp linen and soft towels whilst guests are enjoying their evening meal in the restaurant cars. Toilet facilities are located at the end of each carriage and are maintained to the highest standards by the stewards.

Dining
All dishes are freshly prepared on the train by skilled French chefs. Lunch, dinner and brunch are served by the Italian waiters in one of the three individually styled Restaurant Cars: Lalique, Etoile du Nord or Chinoise. Breakfast and afternoon tea are served to passengers in the comfort of the train's luxury cabins. Table d'hôte meals are included in the fare, while an à la carte menu and 24-hour compartment service is available additionally. The Maitre D' will come to your cabin to take your lunch and dinner reservations in advance of your meal.
