Munich and Innsbruck with the Orient Express
Spend 2 nights in Munich and 1 night in Innsbruck before returning back to London on the magnificent Venice-Simplon Orient-Express. Travel by train to Munich where you spend 2 nights exploring this Bavarian city. You then continue onto Innsbruck for an overnight stay. The next day you board the splendid Wagons-Lits carriages of the Venice-Simplon Orient-Express and travel back to London in style.

Itinerary - 4 Night Luxury Holiday by Rail
Day 1
London to Munich
Travel from St Pancras International or Ebbsfleet International by Eurostar to Brussels and then connect on to the German ICE train to Munich. On arrival in Munich check in at the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost for a 2 night stay.
Munich is one of the most picturesque cities in Germany and, set in the heart of Bavaria, can offer travellers an unforgettable experience. Spend two days exploring some of the various sights and attractions.
Day 2
Munich
Marvel at the architecture of the Marienplatz, visit the largest cathedral in the city, the Frauenkirche and uncover the legend behind the Teufelsschritt (Devil’s Footstep), take a tour of the renowned Deutsches Museum or relax in the beautiful Englischer Garten, one of the largest urban parks in the world.
No visit to Munich is complete without a visit to a beer hall. The Hofbräuhaus am Platzl is undoubtedly the most famous of these, where you can sample some weisswürste (white sausage) or schweinshaxe (pork knuckle) with your mass (litre glass) of beer.
Day 3
Munich to Innsbruck
After breakfast take the train from Munich across Bavaria and the Austrian border to Innsbruck. The train passes through the historic market town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria. On arrival in Innsbruck check in at the Romantik Schwarzer Adler Innsbruck for an overnight stay.
The self proclaimed capital of the Alps, Innsbruck is a city of stately beauty, ringed with snow- capped mountains. Wander around the old town, taking in the famous Goldenes Dach (Golden Roof), the Imperial Church with its striking memorial to Emperor Maximillian I or the Stadtturm for great views of the city. Also, why not take a cable car up to Nordkette for skiing, hiking or a spot of lunch with panoramic alpine views.
Day 4
Board the Venice-Simplon Orient-Express
Spend a day at leisure in Innsbruck before boarding the splendid Wagons-Lits carriages of the Venice Simplon Orient Express. Your steward will show you to your private compartment before you enjoy a four-course dinner as the train heads for the Austrian border. After dinner you may want to linger in the bar and when you are ready you can retire to your cabin, which will have been transformed into a cosy bedroom.
Day 5
Arrive in London
The train arrives in Paris after breakfast and a delicious brunch is served in the restaurant cars as you travel on towards the French coast for the Channel crossing. On arrival in Folkestone join the cream and umber carriages of the British Pullman for the journey to London. A traditional English afternoon tea accompanied by a glass of Champagne is served to you at your table and you watch the gentle scenery of Kent pass by. All too soon, you are drawing into London Victoria station.

With a wealth of museums, gardens and historic buildings, Bavaria’s capital Munich has something for everyone. Visit the Old and New Schliessheim Palaces, enjoy a performance at the Bavarian State Opera or have a picnic in the Englischer Garten, one of the largest municipal parks in Europe. In the evening, you might like to relax with a beer and a Bavarian meal in the famous 16th century Hofbräuhaus.
Innsbruck
Innsbruck is the capital of the Austrian Tyrol, surrounded by high Alpine mountains and divided by the fast flowing River Inn. The city is perfect for exploring on foot as most of its attractions are located in the Altstadt including the famous Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof), the Domkirke and the Hofburg. Don’t miss a trip by funicular railway to the Olympic ski jump for spectacular city views.
Cabins
Travelling in private cabins impeccably restored to their former glory, passengers are assured of a truly unique travel experience complemented by the very best personal service.
Each cabin has an original washbasin cabinet with hot and cold water, and at night-time becomes a comfortable bedroom, with soft towels and crisp linen. Double Cabins feature a single cabin room, whilst the Cabin Suites feature the ultimate luxury of two inter-connecting cabins. Toilet facilities are available in each carriage, luxuriously appointed and maintained to the highest standards by our stewards.
Dining
The Orient-Express has three individually designed restaurant cars: Côte d’Azur, Etoile du Nord and L’Oriental. Lunch, dinner and brunch are served in these restaurant cars whilst breakfast and afternoon tea is served to guests in their cabins by their steward. All dishes are freshly prepared onboard using the finest supplies acquired during the journey. There is a set menu for all meals with an à la carte menu and 24 hour compartment service also available.

The Sofitel Munich Bayerpost is a design hotel with 396 bedrooms and is located in a historic 19th-century building, which features Avant Garde architecture. The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, sauna and modern fitness studio. The Sofitel Munich Bayerpost is centrally located and is only 100 metres from the central railway station.
