Itinerary - 6 Night Holiday by Air + Rail

Day 1

London to Zurich

Travel by Eurostar to Paris before transferring onto the high-speed TGV Est train to Zurich which zips through the French countryside at speeds of up to 320 kmph.

Arrive in Zurich and check into the Hotel du Théâtre for your overnight stay. Charming, modern and ideally located in the pretty old town of Zurich, the Sorrell Rutli is a perfect hotel to explore this riverside city.

The most cosmopolitan of Switzerland’s cities, Zurich enjoys a superb position on the River Limmat at the north-western tip of Lake Zurich. Go shopping along the Bahnhofstrasse, check out one of the exhibitions at the Kunsthaus (museum of fine arts), or have a drink at one of the lakeside bars in the trendy Niederdorf district.

Day 2

Zurich to Milan

Following a morning in Zurich, take the TGV train to Milan via the beautiful Gotthard Pass. Sit back and relax as the train weaves through lush, green valleys, snow-capped mountains and hillside Swiss villages. Admire views of Lake Lucerne before crossing the border into Italy. Journey time is approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Arrive in Milan and check into the Starhotels Anderson Milan for your 2 night stay. The Starhotel Anderson is located opposite the Milan Centrale train station within easy reach of the exclusive shops, Gallerias and historical centre.

Day 3

Milan

Spend a full day in Milan exploring Europe's capital of fashion. Home to the Last Supper, the majestic La Scala Opera house and a beautiful cathedral; Milan is the heart of Italian style and sophistication. Fashionistas will be in heaven here within the spiritual home of Armani, Versace and Gucci to name a few! Take a trip to the Quadrilatero d’Oro (Golden Quad) where top designers have established their flagship stores or seek out the vintage boutiques for a fantastic bargain.

Day 4

Milan to Rome

Take the train from Milan to Rome on the Eurostar Italia train. Journey time is only 3 hours between these two famous cities.

Once in the Eternal City, check in to the Mascagni Rome for your 3 night stay. The Mascagni Rome is an elegant, boutique hotel offering fantastic service in the centre of the city.

Spend your afternoon in Rome, wandering through the charismatic Piazzas such as Piazza del Popolo, famous for its church of Santa Maria del Popolo by Raphael and Piazza Navona, home to the works of great Baroque masters. Climb the steps of the Vittoriano, a huge white monument built as a tribute to a united Italy, for fantastic 360 degree views of one of the world's most photogenic cities.

Days 5 and 6

Rome

Spend the next two days discovering the heart of this ancient city.

Meet the last of the gladiators at the Colosseum, visit the Vatican City and take the opportunity to discover the stunning frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. Stop at the Trevi fountain for a refreshing ice-cream and browse the ancient antique markets at El Babuino and Via de' Coronari.

End a busy day with a peaceful stroll through Rome's Villa Borghese gardens. Find serenity in the exotic plants, shaded trees and the contemporary art museum located within the park's Orangerie. Stop for dinner at Il Pigneto, the fashionable, bohemian district brimming with bars and restaurants serving traditional cuisine including the famous Roman pizzas and refreshing Frascati wine.

Day 7

Rome to London

After breakfast, travel to Rome airport for your BA Euro Traveller Flight to London.
