Fly from London with British Airways and arrive in Delhi to a warm, traditional Indian welcome. Transfer to the capital's Safdarjung Railway station to board the fabulous Maharajas' Express.
Familiarise yourself with your Suite before sitting down to a leisurely brunch as you journey through the picturesque countryside to Agra. The "City of Splendour" is a jewel of India and features the illustrious Taj Mahal, one of the greatest architectural wonders in the world.
Visit Agra Fort, a fine spectacle built by the Mughal and the stronghold of their Empire. Spend your afternoon with a glass of champagne in hand on top of the Taj Khema and watch the golden sun set over the Taj Mahal before returning to the train.
Disembark from the train for a tour of the world famous Taj Majal. Built by over 20,000 Indian craftsmen, the beautiful white marble and internal décor are an unforgettable sight.
Return for breakfast as you travel through the Chambal Ravines, a series of huge, narrow gorges and sandy hills. Arrive into the royal city of Gwalior for a tour of its palaces before continuing to the Usja Kiran Palace and Gwalior's magnificent fort. Take a tour of the fort's Jain sculptures, Rajput architecture and exquisite stone carvings. Alternatively enjoy the 5* spa facilities at a hotel nearby for a relaxing afternoon.
Following a wonderful finale of delicacies from the Royal Palace for dinner, re-board the train for a well deserved rest.
As the train meanders towards Khajuraho, enjoy breakfast before stopping in the town of Orchha. Venture out to the domain of the Bundela Kings. Marvel at the Jahangiri Mahal, a striking palace layered with 132 chambers and décor of lapus lazuli.
Continue onwards to Khajuraho, an ancient temple city known for its exquisite sculptures and incredible Indo-Aryan sculptures. Explore the temples, recognised as a UNESCO heritage site and experience the Son-et-Lumire spectacle, a sight which describes the life of the Chandela Kings and their 10th Century temples.
Spend the afternoon relaxing in the spa of a nearby 5* hotel or continue your excursion to the fascinating temples. Reboard the train for a sumptuous dinner.
Awake as the train rolls into Umaria and disembark for a thrilling drive to the Bandhavgarh National Park. As the former hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Rewa, the Park offers a wonderful glimpse into India's wildlife. Spot sloth bears, exotic birds and deer before being given an opportunity to be involved in the "Forests for Tigers" program where local people conserve the well-being of this incredible animal.
After lunch, explore the flora and fauna of the park with a jeep safari tour before returning to the Maharajas Express.
Pass through royal jungles and agricultural fields this morning before arriving to Varanasi. This incredibly holy city is one of the oldest in the world, with a spiritual legacy of over 300 years. Set on the River Ganges, the vibrant bazaars, beautiful colours and natural chaotic atmosphere epitomises India.
Tour the ancient ruins of Sarnath, known as the site where Buddha preached his first sermon explaining the idea of Buddhism. Following lunch take some free time to shop for beautiful silk saris before taking a cruise on the sacred River Ganges. Witness the time-honoured symbols of incense burning, the scent of flowers and the chants of Sanskit mantras, all combined to ensure a magical evening in India.
Wake up to sights of lush green fields as you pass through Uttar Pradesh. Pull into the legendary "City of Nawads", Lucknow.
Start your day with a visit to The Residency, built in 1800 for the British Resident General and now a dramatic ruin, destroyed in the Mutiny of 1857. Discover imperialist wonders such as the "Rumi Darwaza", a fabulous ornamented gateway and Bada Imambara, arguably the finest vaulted apartment in the world, featuring stunning corridors, galleries and gateways.
After lunch, the afternoon is yours to relax on board or discover more of the city. For your final evening onboard, celebrate a true "Indian Evening" at the Royal House. Sample culinary delights, watch traditional courtesan dance and experience the true charm of the Nawabi era.
As the train pulls back into New Delhi, enjoy a final breakfast, bid farewell to your fellow passengers and disembark at Safdarjung station. Fly back to London with British Airways and memories that will last forever.

Delhi, the second largest metropolis in India and capital of the country is a vibrant city brimming with history and culture. Believed to have been inhabited since the millennium BC, Delhi is now home to over 1200 heritage buildings including Jama Masjid (India's Largest Mosque), the impressive Red Fort and Humayun's Tomb.
Gwalior, a historic, royal city features numerous palaces, temples and monuments preserved since the rule of the ancient dynasties. The Usha Kiran Palace, over 120 years old played host to the King of England and features wonderful stone carvings. The Gwalior Fort holds exquisite architecture and the Jai Vilas Palace still remains the residence of the royal family of Gwalior.
Built between 950 and 1050 AD, Khajuraho is a true burst of creativity with wonderful examples of Indo-Aryan architecture. The temples are classed as a UNESCO world heritage site due to their extraordinary examples of Cahandela Art and fine carvings.
Varanasi is not only one of the oldest towns in the world but holds a spiritual legacy of over 3000 years. Set on the River Ganges, Varanasi is renowned for its colourful bazaars, vibrant atmosphere and handmade silks. The ancient ruins of Sarnath are claimed as the birthplace of Buddhism, where the Buddha described the religion for the first time.
Capital of the Uttar Pradesh region and home to imperialistic splendour, Lucknow is known as the "City of Nawabs". The architectural beauty, fine cuisine and beautiful gardens have led the city to become a cultural and artistic capital of North India.

The Maharajas' Express features a glamorous bar offering house wines, beer and snacks which are complimentary for every guest. The Observation Lounge includes its own bar, games tables and comfortable arm-chairs and the onboard boutique allows guests to purchase beautiful Indian gifts and creations.
The train offers two fine dining restaurants seating 42 guests at one time. Wine and beer are complimentary with each meal. A professional team of butlers are available to attend to your needs. A paramedic is also onboard for any medical issues.

Fly from London with British Airways and arrive in Delhi to a warm, traditional Indian welcome. Transfer to the capital's Safdarjung Railway station to board the fabulous Maharajas' Express.
Familiarise yourself with your Presidential Suite before sitting down to a leisurely brunch as you journey through the picturesque countryside to Agra. The "City of Splendour" is a jewel of India and features the illustrious Taj Mahal, one of the greatest architectural wonders in the world.
Visit Agra Fort, a fine spectacle built by the Mughal and the stronghold of their Empire. Spend your afternoon with a glass of champagne in hand on top of the Taj Khema and watch the golden sun set over the Taj Mahal before returning to the train.
Disembark from the train for a tour of the world famous Taj Majal. Built by over 20,000 Indian craftsmen, the beautiful white marble and internal décor are an unforgettable sight.
Return for breakfast as you travel through the Chambal Ravines, a series of huge, narrow gorges and sandy hills. Arrive into the royal city of Gwalior for a tour of its palaces before continuing to the Usja Kiran Palace and Gwalior's magnificent fort. Take a tour of the fort's Jain sculptures, Rajput architecture and exquisite stone carvings. Alternatively enjoy the 5* spa facilities at a hotel nearby for a relaxing afternoon.
Following a wonderful finale of delicacies from the Royal Palace for dinner, re-board the train for a well deserved rest.
As the train meanders towards Khajuraho, enjoy breakfast before stopping in the town of Orchha. Venture out to the domain of the Bundela Kings. Marvel at the Jahangiri Mahal, a striking palace layered with 132 chambers and décor of lapus lazuli.
Continue onwards to Khajuraho, an ancient temple city known for its exquisite sculptures and incredible Indo-Aryan sculptures. Explore the temples, recognised as a UNESCO heritage site and experience the Son-et-Lumire spectacle, a sight which describes the life of the Chandela Kings and their 10th Century temples.
Spend the afternoon relaxing in the spa of a nearby 5* hotel or continue your excursion to the fascinating temples. Reboard the train for a sumptuous dinner.
Awake as the train rolls into Umaria and disembark for a thrilling drive to the Bandhavgarh National Park. As the former hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Rewa, the Park offers a wonderful glimpse into India's wildlife. Spot sloth bears, exotic birds and deer before being given an opportunity to be involved in the "Forests for Tigers" program where local people conserve the well-being of this incredible animal.
After lunch, explore the flora and fauna of the park with a jeep safari tour before returning to the Maharajas Express.
Pass through royal jungles and agricultural fields this morning before arriving to Varanasi. This incredibly holy city is one of the oldest in the world, with a spiritual legacy of over 300 years. Set on the River Ganges, the vibrant bazaars, beautiful colours and natural chaotic atmosphere epitomises India.
Tour the ancient ruins of Sarnath, known as the site where Buddha preached his first sermon explaining the idea of Buddhism. Following lunch take some free time to shop for beautiful silk saris before taking a cruise on the sacred River Ganges. Witness the time-honoured symbols of incense burning, the scent of flowers and the chants of Sanskit mantras, all combined to ensure a magical evening in India.
Wake up to sights of lush green fields as you pass through Uttar Pradesh. Pull into the legendary "City of Nawads", Lucknow.
Start your day with a visit to The Residency, built in 1800 for the British Resident General and now a dramatic ruin, destroyed in the Mutiny of 1857. Discover imperialist wonders such as the "Rumi Darwaza", a fabulous ornamented gateway and Bada Imambara, arguably the finest vaulted apartment in the world, featuring stunning corridors, galleries and gateways.
After lunch, the afternoon is yours to relax on board or discover more of the city. For your final evening onboard, celebrate a true "Indian Evening" at the Royal House. Sample culinary delights, watch traditional courtesan dance and experience the true charm of the Nawabi era.
As the train pulls back into New Delhi, enjoy a final breakfast, bid farewell to your fellow passengers and disembark at Safdarjung station. Fly back to London with British Airways and memories that will last forever.

Delhi, the second largest metropolis in India and capital of the country is a vibrant city brimming with history and culture. Believed to have been inhabited since the millennium BC, Delhi is now home to over 1200 heritage buildings including Jama Masjid (India's Largest Mosque), the impressive Red Fort and Humayun's Tomb.
Gwalior, a historic, royal city features numerous palaces, temples and monuments preserved since the rule of the ancient dynasties. The Usha Kiran Palace, over 120 years old played host to the King of England and features wonderful stone carvings. The Gwalior Fort holds exquisite architecture and the Jai Vilas Palace still remains the residence of the royal family of Gwalior.
Built between 950 and 1050 AD, Khajuraho is a true burst of creativity with wonderful examples of Indo-Aryan architecture. The temples are classed as a UNESCO world heritage site due to their extraordinary examples of Cahandela Art and fine carvings.
Varanasi is not only one of the oldest towns in the world but holds a spiritual legacy of over 3000 years. Set on the River Ganges, Varanasi is renowned for its colourful bazaars, vibrant atmosphere and handmade silks. The ancient ruins of Sarnath are claimed as the birthplace of Buddhism, where the Buddha described the religion for the first time.
Capital of the Uttar Pradesh region and home to imperialistic splendour, Lucknow is known as the "City of Nawabs". The architectural beauty, fine cuisine and beautiful gardens have led the city to become a cultural and artistic capital of North India.
A design marvel created by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, the Maharajas' Express features five carriages including four Deluxe cabins, six Junior Suites, two Suites and one magnificent Presidential Suite. The Maharajas' Express features a glamorous bar offering house wines, beer and snacks which are complimentary for every guest. The Observation Lounge includes its own bar, games tables and comfortable arm-chairs and the onboard boutique allows guests to purchase beautiful Indian gifts and creations.
The train offers two fine dining restaurants seating 42 guests at one time. Wine and beer are complimentary with each meal. A professional team of butlers are available to attend to your needs. A paramedic is also onboard for any medical issues.
