Itinerary - 13 Night Luxury Holiday by Rail - Silver Class Cabin

Day 1

Moscow

On arrival in Moscow you will be met and transferred to the Marriott Royal Aurora Moscow for a one night stay. Enjoy a private welcome reception followed by dinner. This is a great time to get to know fellow travellers with whom you will be sharing this unforgettable 13 night journey with.

Day 2

Moscow

Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before you are taken on a tour of Moscow. Sights include the famous Red Square where you will see a mix of fascinating architecture, such as St Basil’s Cathedral with its distinctive onion-domed spires. Other sights include The Kremlin and Lenin’s tomb. After the city tour you board the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express private train and settle into the modern and stylish Silver Class cabins before having dinner in one of the beautifully designed restaurant cars.

Day 3

Kazan

Spend the morning on the Golden Eagle before arriving in the historic city of Kazan. Once in Kazan you are taken on a tour of the city. One of the highlights of the tour is the Kremlin Fortress where you are given the opportunity to explore the beautiful mosque and onion-domed cathedral of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to the Golden Eagle for dinner and spend the evening relaxing on board.

Day 4

Yekaterinburg

Spend the morning on the train as you cross the Europe/Asia divide before arriving in Yekaterinburg. Founded in 1723 by Peter the Great, this historic city is the third largest city in Russian and is also the capital of the Urals. You are taken on a tour of the city which includes the execution site where the Romanov, Nicholas II of Russia was executed with his family by the Bolsheviks in 1918. The site is now a church dedicated to their memory and it provides a powerful insight into the turmoil of the Russian Revolution.

Day 5

Novosibirsk

Today is spent in the modern ‘Soviet’ city of Novosibirsk. You are taken on a tour of this rich and cultural city. One of the main sights is the Novosibirsk Opera House which is home to two permanent ballet and opera companies and is also the largest opera house in the world. You also visit the imposing statue of Lenin which gives you the opportunity to have a photograph taken with this iconic political leader!

Day 6

Onboard

Spend the day relaxing onboard as the train travels through Siberia. Sit back and enjoy the views as the sweeping panoramas of natural beauty unfold before you.

Day 7

Irkutsk

Spend the day in Irkutsk which is often referred to as the ‘Paris of Siberia’. Take a tour of the most significant museums and sights in this city. The tour also includes a visit to the Decembrist House museum which is dedicated to the memory of the exiled aristocrats who were forced to flee to this remote outpost after the failed revolution of 1825.

You are treated to a private concert before returning to the Golden Eagle for dinner.

Day 8

Lake Baikal

Sit back and relax as the Golden Eagle winds its way through tunnels and along cliff hugging tracks above Lake Baikal. Lake Baikal holds 20% of the world’s freshwater and is the deepest lake in the world. Often known as the ‘Pearl of Siberia’, Lake Baikal is home to a unique breed of freshwater seal and over fifty species of fish including omul which is served in the dining car for some of the onboard meals. There is also the possibility to stop at one of Lake Baikal’s picturesque bays to enjoy a BBQ including smoked fish freshly prepared by the onboard chefs. There is also time to go for a refreshing swim in the Lake!

Day 9

Ulan Ude

Enjoy breakfast on the train before you arrive in Ulan Ude, the capital of the Buryat Republic. Experience the ethnic and cultural diversity of this area during a guided tour. During the city tour you will also have the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of these religious people. Finish the day by enjoying a concert featuring local dancers whilst being treated to a traditional meal.

Day 10

Ulaan Baator, Mongolia

The Trans-Siberian adventure continues onto Ulaan Baatar, the capital of Mongolia. Visit the main sights in Ulaan Baatar including the central monument to Genghis Khan and the National Museum which will give you an insight into the country's intriguing history.

A Mongol style lunch is served in a traditional Yurt where you are treated to an authentic local meal and entertainment, giving you the perfect opportunity to experience this nomadic way of life.

Day 11

Border crossing from Mongolia to China

The Golden Eagle heads through Mongolia to the border crossing point into China. You then depart the Golden Eagle and board the Chinese Private Train. In the afternoon you will have time to visit Erlian, including its museum and local market.

Day 12

Beijing

The train arrives into Beijing in the morning. On arrival in Beijing you are transferred to the 5* The Regent Hotel for a two night stay. You are given the opportunity to take part in a number of different tours. Visit Tiananmen Square or explore this magnificently restored Forbidden City. Alternatively, take a tour of Beijing’s modern architecture with sights including the Olympic Village, National Centre for Performing Arts, and the National Museum.

Day 13

Beijing

Today you get to visit the awe-inspiring Great Wall of China. Visit Badaling where you are given the opportunity to walk along a section of the wall. This is the perfect opportunity to take some memorable photographs! In the evening relax as you enjoy a farewell banquet in a Peking Duck restaurant. It is here that you get to say goodbye to your travelling companions.

Day 14

Beijing

Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before you are transferred to Beijing airport to begin your journey home.

Moscow

Moscow is a mighty capital city with some iconic attractions including the Red Square, the Kremlin, Lenin’s Tomb, containing the Communist leader’s embalmed body, St Basil’s Cathedral and Gorky Park. Make sure you have a look around the grand and ornately decorated State Historical Museum, just next to the Kremlin. Some of the stations on the metro resemble underground stately homes and are well worth a visit!

Beijing

Beijing

Visit Beijing for a trip around the Forbidden City, to explore the vast Tiananmen Square or relax in the green surroundings of the elegant Summer Palace. Don't miss a cycle ride through the historic hutongs, or a shopping excursion to the Pearl Market.

Ulan Bator

Ulan Bator

The capital city of Mongolia, Ulan Bator was originally a Buddhist centre. Most of the buildings in the city were re-built after 1945, but some notable historic buildings remain including the gold roofed Tsogchin dugan, and Bogd Khan's Winter Palace.

The Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express is a new train which brings unprecedented luxury to the world's greatest train journey. The Golden Eagle train transports you from Moscow to the Chinese border.

The 12 ensuite sleeping cars feature state of the art amenities. 77sq ft (7 sq m) Gold Class cabins are well-proportioned and include power showers, underfloor heating, DVD/CD player, LCD screen and individual air-conditioning. Silver Class cabins are more compact at 60 sq ft (5.5 sq m) but have similar facilities.

A particular delight of the Golden Eagle are the two restaurant cars, where the chefs serve meals using (wherever possible) local ingredients. Whether it be world-renowned "Borsch" or Omul - a fish unique to Lake Baikal, meals are complemented by wines from around the world, as well as - naturally - vodka.

Yet the social heart of the train is of course the bar car, a great place to relax and settle into the unhurried pace of life on board. Unwind in comfortable surroundings, watch the world go by, and meet your fellow passengers.

The Shangri-La Express transports you through China to Beijing, and offers modern comfort even in the remotest places.

The train's twin berth cabins are comfortably furnished and includes "Pullman" table and armchair alongside a large picture window. A state of the art shower car complements the two washrooms/WCs in every sleeping carriage.

Meals are served in the spacious restaurant car, where dedicated chefs serve a Western breakfast, followed by a wide range of authentic Chinese specialities at lunch and dinner, using only the finest local ingredients.

Equally special is the unique ambience of the piano bar car, which stays open until the last person leaves. The bar is the perfect place to get to know your fellow passengers or take in the scenery.

Silver Class
The Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express comprises of twelve fully en-suite Silver sleeping cars which feature state of the art amenities and are 60 sq ft. Silver Class cabins a private en-suite bathroom with a ‘wet-room’ style shower, a toilet, and all of the amenities that are provided in a New Heritage Class cabin. Silver Class cabins sleep 2 in a lower small double bed (4ft) or bunk style.

Gold Class
The Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express comprises of twelve fully en-suite Gold sleeping cars which feature state of the art amenities and are 77 sq ft. Gold Class cabins are well-proportioned and have everything from power showers and underfloor heating to a DVD/CD player, LCD screen and individual air-conditioning. Gold Class Cabins sleep 2 in either a lower standard (4ft 6) double bed or bunk style. Drinks are also included from the Standard Bar List.

Day 10

Ulaan Baator, Mongolia

The Trans-Siberian adventure continues onto Ulaan Baatar, the capital of Mongolia. Visit the main sights in Ulaan Baatar including the central monument to Genghis Khan and the National Museum which will give you an insight into the country's intriguing history.

A Mongol style lunch is served in a traditional Yurt where you are treated to an authentic local meal and entertainment, giving you the perfect opportunity to experience this nomadic way of life.

Day 11

Border crossing from Mongolia to China

The Golden Eagle heads through Mongolia to the border crossing point into China. You then depart the Golden Eagle and board the Chinese Private Train. In the afternoon you will have time to visit Erlian, including its museum and local market.

Day 12

Beijing

The train arrives into Beijing in the morning. On arrival in Beijing you are transferred to the 5* for a two night stay. You are given the opportunity to take part in a number of different tours. Visit Tiananmen Square or explore this magnificently restored Forbidden City. Alternatively, take a tour of Beijing’s modern architecture with sights including the Olympic Village, National Centre for Performing Arts, and the National Museum.

Day 13

Beijing

Today you get to visit the awe-inspiring Great Wall of China. Visit Badaling where you are given the opportunity to walk along a section of the wall. This is the perfect opportunity to take some memorable photographs! In the evening relax as you enjoy a farewell banquet in a Peking Duck restaurant. It is here that you get to say goodbye to your travelling companions.

Day 14

Beijing

Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before you are transferred to Beijing airport to begin your journey home.

Moscow is a mighty capital city with some iconic attractions including the Red Square, the Kremlin, Lenin’s Tomb, containing the Communist leader’s embalmed body, St Basil’s Cathedral and Gorky Park. Make sure you have a look around the grand and ornately decorated State Historical Museum, just next to the Kremlin. Some of the stations on the metro resemble underground stately homes and are well worth a visit!

Visit Beijing for a trip around the Forbidden City, to explore the vast Tiananmen Square or relax in the green surroundings of the elegant Summer Palace. Don't miss a cycle ride through the historic hutongs, or a shopping excursion to the Pearl Market.

The capital city of Mongolia, Ulan Bator was originally a Buddhist centre. Most of the buildings in the city were re-built after 1945, but some notable historic buildings remain including the gold roofed Tsogchin dugan, and Bogd Khan's Winter Palace.

The Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express is a new train which brings unprecedented luxury to the world's greatest train journey. The Golden Eagle train transports you from Moscow to the Chinese border.

The 12 ensuite sleeping cars feature state of the art amenities. 77sq ft (7 sq m) Gold Class cabins are well-proportioned and include power showers, underfloor heating, DVD/CD player, LCD screen and individual air-conditioning. Silver Class cabins are more compact at 60 sq ft (5.5 sq m) but have similar facilities.

A particular delight of the Golden Eagle are the two restaurant cars, where the chefs serve meals using (wherever possible) local ingredients. Whether it be world-renowned "Borsch" or Omul - a fish unique to Lake Baikal, meals are complemented by wines from around the world, as well as - naturally - vodka.

Yet the social heart of the train is of course the bar car, a great place to relax and settle into the unhurried pace of life on board. Unwind in comfortable surroundings, watch the world go by, and meet your fellow passengers.

The Shangri-La Express transports you through China to Beijing, and offers modern comfort even in the remotest places.

The train's twin berth cabins are comfortably furnished and includes "Pullman" table and armchair alongside a large picture window. A state of the art shower car complements the two washrooms/WCs in every sleeping carriage.

Meals are served in the spacious restaurant car, where dedicated chefs serve a Western breakfast, followed by a wide range of authentic Chinese specialities at lunch and dinner, using only the finest local ingredients.

Equally special is the unique ambience of the piano bar car, which stays open until the last person leaves. The bar is the perfect place to get to know your fellow passengers or take in the scenery.

The Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express comprises of twelve fully en-suite Silver sleeping cars which feature state of the art amenities and are 60 sq ft. Silver Class cabins a private en-suite bathroom with a ‘wet-room’ style shower, a toilet, and all of the amenities that are provided in a New Heritage Class cabin. Silver Class cabins sleep 2 in a lower small double bed (4ft) or bunk style.

Gold Class
The Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express comprises of twelve fully en-suite Gold sleeping cars which feature state of the art amenities and are 77 sq ft. Gold Class cabins are well-proportioned and have everything from power showers and underfloor heating to a DVD/CD player, LCD screen and individual air-conditioning. Gold Class Cabins sleep 2 in either a lower standard (4ft 6) double bed or bunk style. Drinks are also included from the Standard Bar List.
