Itinerary - 7 Night Holiday by Rail
Day 1
London to Cologne
Travel by Eurostar to Brussels this morning and connect with the train service to Cologne. On arrival in Cologne, check in at the Marriott Cologne Hotel for an overnight stay.
Spend the rest of the day exploring the delights of Germany's oldest city.
Head to the top of the Cathedral for picturesque views over the rooftops of the city, enjoy a glass of Kolsch, the local speciality beer, or shop for gifts along the famous Hohe Strasse. Alternatively, go for a stroll along the banks of the Rhine or through the cobbled streets of the Old Town.
Day 2
Cologne to Lindau
Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before travelling by train to Lindau. Sit back and relax as the train travels through the beautiful scenery of the Rhine Valley, past hilltop castles and vineyards before arriving in Lindau.
On arrival in Lindau, check in at the Hotel Reutemann Seegarten for a 5 night stay around Lake Constance. Bordering three countries, Lake Constance is the perfect place for a relaxing short break.
Days 3 to 6
Lindau and Lake Constance
Spend the next four days relaxing in the picturesque setting of Lindau and Lake Constance.
Go for a boat ride around the lake, visit the Lindau Town Museum, or admire the beautiful architecture of the Old Town area. Spend a day relaxing on one of the sand and pebble beaches which are dotted around the lake, take a dip in the hotel swimming pool, or enjoy a drink on the hotel garden terrace whilst enjoying the splendid views. In the evening, why not enjoy a stroll around Lindau’s iconic harbour, considered to be the most attractive harbour on Lake Constance?
Day 7
Lindau to Zurich
After breakfast in the hotel take the scenic train journey from Lindau to Zurich. On arrival in Zurich, check in at the Hotel du Théâtre for an overnight stay.
Spend the rest of the day exploring Zurich's cultural capital, situated in a stunning setting on the River Limmat. Go for a stroll through the cobbled streets, enjoy the views from the top of the Grossmünster church, shop for gifts along the famous Bahnhofstrasse, or stroll along the shores of Lake Zurich.
In the evening, take in some traditional Swiss cuisine such as raclette, sauerkraut or delicious fondue in one of the lakeside restaurants and cafés.
Day 8
Zurich to London
Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before travelling by TGV from Zurich to Paris Gare de Lyon. Transfer to the Gare du Nord where you catch the Eurostar service back to London.

Cologne is a famous city along the River Rhine, whose skyline is dominated by its awe-inspiring Gothic Cathedral, one of the largest of its kind. Climb the south tower for spectacular views over the city and the river. There are also plenty of museums here including the Römisch-Germanisches Museum, offering an interesting history of the Rhine during Roman times and the Chocolate Museum, a must for chocoholics.
Lindau
Located in a stunning island location on Lake Constance, Lindau is a picturesque Bavarian town which has been inhabited since Roman times. The town is connected to the mainland via a road bridge and of course, a railway line. Discover the historic architecture of the Old Town and one of Europe's loveliest harbours where you can enjoy a drink or a meal and watch the boats setting sail out onto the Bodensee.
Zurich
Situated on the banks of the River Limmat where it meets the northernmost tip of Lake Zürich, the city of Zurich is Switzerland’s culture capital with excellent museums and great shopping, particularly along the famous Bahnhofstrasse. Discover one of the city’s many galleries such as the Kunsthaus Zurich which houses one of Switzerland’s most important art collections. In the evening, relax in one of the lakeside restaurants and cafés or explore the lively Old Town area.
Marriott Cologne Hotel

The Hotel Reutemann Seegarten in Lindau is a traditional hotel with comfortable rooms; the hotel shares the leisure facilities of its sister hotel Bayerischer Hof which it is located next to. The hotel is set on Lindau's lakeside promenade overlooking the lighthouse and Bavarian Lion that guard the entrance to the medieval harbour.
