Follow in the footsteps of the Habsburgs with a visit to the splendid baroque Schönbrunn and Belvedere Palaces. Salzburg is world famous for two musical phenomena, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Von Trapp family. Fans of either will love the wealth of monuments, museums and tours on offer.
Straddling the banks of the Salzach River and surrounded by green hills on one side and the Alps on the other, Salzburg is picture perfect. The baroque old town is a UNESCO world heritage site with its colourful old buildings and winding streets leading up the dominating Festung Hohensalzburg, one of the largest medieval castles in Europe. Stroll along the Getreidegasse, Salzburg’s most fashionable shopping mile or take some time out in the beautiful Mirabell Gardens.
After breakfast take the train to Innsbruck which takes approximately 2 hours. On arrival in Innsbruck check into the Hilton Innsbruck for a 2 night stay.
The self proclaimed capital of the Alps, Innsbruck is city of stately beauty, ringed with snow-capped mountains. Wander around the old town, taking in the famous Goldenes Dach (Golden Roof), the Imperial Church with its striking memorial to Emperor Maximillian I or the Stadtturm for great views of the city. Alternatively, take a cable car up to Nordkette for skiing, hiking or a spot of lunch with panoramic alpine views.
Take the train through the Arlberg pass from Innsbruck to Zurich, travelling through some spectacular Tyrolean scenery before changing on to the TGV to Paris, where you transfer back to London by Eurostar.

Innsbruck is the capital of the Austrian Tyrol, surrounded by high Alpine mountains and divided by the fast flowing River Inn. The city is perfect for exploring on foot as most of its attractions are located in the Altstadt including the famous Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof), the Domkirke and the Hofburg. Don’t miss a trip by funicular railway to the Olympic ski jump for spectacular city views.
Salzburg is a beautiful city close to the Austrian Alps, famous for its huge medieval castle, its UNESCO World Heritage listed Old Town and its associations with Mozart, who was born here.
