Florence via the Alps
Travel to Zurich for an overnight night stay before heading by train through the Alps to Florence. With 3 nights in Florence you have plenty of time to visit the Uffizi Gallery, admire the architecture of the Duomo and wander over the famous Ponte Vecchio, shopping for souvenirs of your visit. Return to London with a night in the historic city of Turin to break your journey.

Itinerary - 5 Night Holiday by Rail
Day 1
Zurich
Travel from London to Paris on Eurostar, where you transfer onto the high speed TGV Lyria train to Zurich. On arrival in Zurich, check in at the Hotel du Théâtre for an overnight stay.
Once you have settled in, head out for an evening to explore one of Switzerland's most scenic cities. Take a walk along the shores of beautiful Lake Zürich or stop in one of the many museums around the city, before sampling some traditional Swiss fare in a riverside restaurant.
Day 2
Zurich to Florence
Depart Zurich in the morning and travel to Florence via Milan on one of the most scenic routes in Europe, the Gotthard Pass. Relax whilst the train cuts through the famous pass across the border into Italy over the Alps. As well as the stunning mountain scenery the train runs next to Lakes Lugano and Como. After a quick change over in Milan you arrive into Florence's famous Santa Maria Novella station in the early afternoon.
Check in to the Rosso 23 Florence for your 3 night stay. The hotel is located on the beautiful Piazza Santa Maria Novella, just a 5 minute walk from the train station.
Days 3 and 4
Florence
Spend two days visiting some of the delightful sights of Florence. Take a walk through the buzzing squares of the Piazza San Giovanni (with its spectacular Duomo cathedral), the Piazza della Signoria and Santa Croce featuring Renaissance palaces decorated with frescos. Don’t miss a walk across Florence's Ponte Vecchio, known as the bridge of gold for its jewellers and goldsmiths and offering beautiful views across the Arno river.
Day 5
Turin
Take the train from Florence to Turin (journey time approximately 2 hours 45 minutes). Pass by rolling streams and impressive mountain scenes all from the comfort of your seat.
Check in at the Starhotels Majestic Turin for your overnight stay.
Explore the best of Turin with plenty of time to stroll through the Piazzas experiencing the delightful atmosphere of the city. Sample some of the city's quality ice-cream or visit the numerous cultural institutions such as the Palazzo Carignano, home to the first Italian Parliament and the Chapel of the Holy Shroud.
Day 6
Turin to London
From Turin, travel the 5 and a half hour journey to Paris catching glimpses of the French Alps, before stopping for lunch or transferring straight onto your Eurostar back to London.

Florence
Florence is a beautiful Tuscan city, famous as the birthplace of the Renaissance movement. Visit Michelangelo’s David at the Galleria dell’Accademia, or head to the fabulous Uffizi Gallery for works by Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli and Giotto amongst hundreds of others.
