Itinerary - 4 Night Holiday by Rail

Day 1

London to Dublin

Depart from London Euston in the morning, travelling on Virgin Trains, and enjoy the views as the train travels through the heart of England and along the picturesque North Wales Coast.

You arrive at Holyhead Port in the afternoon before travelling by cruise ferry to Dublin city centre. On arrival in Dublin check in to the 4* Ashling Hotel Dublin (or similar) for a 1 night stay.

After you have settled into the hotel spend the rest of the day exploring all Dublin has to offer. In the evening why not head to one of the many restaurants which are dotted around this coastal city?. Local specialties such as smoked salmon or oysters are not to be missed!

Day 2

Dublin to Belfast

After an early start you are transferred to Dublin Connolly station where you take the train to Belfast (journey time around 2 hours 15 minutes). On arrival in Belfast travel to the famous Antrim Coast Road. Cross the picturesque Glens of Antrim as you travel to Ballycastle and the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge. If you are lucky then you may be able to catch a glimpse of the Scottish coast on a clear day!

You are then taken to Giant’s Causeway, an area of over 40,000 interlocking basalt columns created by an ancient volcanic eruption. Finish the afternoon by admiring the views of Dunluce Castle as you head back to Belfast. On arrival in Belfast check in to the 4* Europa Hotel Belfast (or similar) for a 1 night stay.

Day 3

Belfast

Enjoy a full Irish breakfast in the hotel before joining a Belfast Hop-On-Hop-Off city tour and take in a number of sights and attractions that this compact historical city has to offer. The tour also visits the Titanic Quarter and you will be able to see the original dock where the Titanic was built. Admire the Victoria and Edwardian architecture of Belfast City Hall, Grand Opera House and Belfast Castle. Go for a stroll around Belfast Zoo or visit the galleries of Waterfront Hall.

Return to Dublin in the early evening and check in to the 4* Ashling Hotel Dublin (or similar) for a 2 night stay.

Day 4

Dublin

Spend the day discovering more of Dublin with your complimentary Dublin Bus City tour Hop-on/off ticket. What better place to start than the Guinness Storehouse which is widely considered to be this vibrant city's main tourist attraction! Dublin is over a thousand years old, rich in history and there are a number of churches, museums, historic buildings and parks to visit during your time here.

Visit some of the oldest surviving architecture in Dublin with a trip to Dublin Castle, go for a stroll around the lake at St. Stephen's Green or wander along the medieval streets of Temple bar.

Day 5

Dublin to London

There is an early start today as you are transferred to Dublin Ferry port to begin the journey home. After the short ferry crossing to Holyhead Port you travel by Virgin Trains back to London Euston and arrive in the afternoon.

Dublin is the capital and largest city of Ireland. Explore the unusual shops which line the narrow, cobbled streets of Temple Bar, visit some of the oldest surviving architecture in Dublin with a trip to Dublin Castle or go for a tour around the famous Guinness Storehouse.

Belfast

Belfast is the capital of and largest city in Northern Ireland. Wander around Belfast Castle, visit the Grand Opera House and Belfast City Hall or explore the Titanic Quarter where you can see the dock where the Titanic was built.

Irish Ferries
The Ulysses ferry is the largest car ferry on the Irish Sea,sailing between Holyhead and Dublin. Take a refreshing stroll along the Sandycove Promenade Deck, enjoy lunch in Boylan’s Brasserie or Café Lafayette, or shop in the Travel Galleria. The ferry also has a cinema, entertainment centre, lounge and bar.
