Cologne and Munich
Explore these 2 fascinating and contrasting cities by train. Spend 2 nights in Cologne and then take the train to the capital of Bavaria, Munich. Spend 3 nights in the southern German city before returning to the UK by train. Cologne is the largest city on the River Rhine and is a very lively and cosmopolitan city, whilst Munich is more of a relaxed city, famous for great beer!

Itinerary - 5 Night Holiday by Rail
Days 1 and 2
Cologne
Travel from St Pancras International or Ebbsfleet International by Eurostar to Brussels and then connect on to the German ICE train to Cologne. Journey time from is London 4 hours approximately. Check into your hotel the Marriott Cologne Hotel, where you will stay for 2 nights.
Visit Cologne's Chocolate Museum for a tasting, relax in a traditional bar and sample the local specialty beer kolsch, then head up to the top of the Dom for fabulous views over the city.
Days 3 to 5
Munich
Take the high speed ICE train from Cologne to Munich (approximately 4 hours 30 minutes). On arrival check in at the Courtyard Munich City Centre, where you will stay for 3 nights.
Munich is a relaxed city, famous for great beer! Go to the Bavarian State Opera for a performance, visit the museums, relax in the park, and enjoy the local food and drink specialties in a bar, café or restaurant.
Day 6
Munich to London
Travel by high speed train through Germany and then Eurostar to London via Brussels (approximately 9 hour journey). Stop-overs enroute are available, please call for details.

Cologne
Cologne is a famous city along the River Rhine, whose skyline is dominated by its awe-inspiring Gothic Cathedral, one of the largest of its kind. Climb the south tower for spectacular views over the city and the river. There are also plenty of museums here including the Römisch-Germanisches Museum, offering an interesting history of the Rhine during Roman times and the Chocolate Museum, a must for chocoholics.
Munich
With a wealth of museums, gardens and historic buildings, Bavaria’s capital Munich has something for everyone. Visit the Old and New Schliessheim Palaces, enjoy a performance at the Bavarian State Opera or have a picnic in the Englischer Garten, one of the largest municipal parks in Europe. In the evening, you might like to relax with a beer and a Bavarian meal in the famous 16th century Hofbräuhaus.
