Itinerary - 6 Night Holiday by Air + Rail

Day 1

London to Zurich

Travel from London to Paris with Eurostar, where you transfer onto the TGV Est train to Zurich which zips through the French countryside at speeds of up to 320 kmph. On arrival in Zurich, check in at the Hotel du Théâtre.

The most cosmopolitan of Switzerland’s cities, Zurich enjoys a superb position on the River Limmat at the northwestern tip of Lake Zürich. Go shopping along the Bahnhofstrasse, check out one of the exhibitions at the Kunsthaus (museum of fine arts), or have a drink at one of the lakeside bars in the trendy Niederdorf district.

Day 2

Zurich to Florence

After breakfast, return to Zurich Hauptbahnhof and travel to Florence. Take the train along the spectacular Gotthard Pass, skirting stunning snow-capped mountains and glacial rivers.

Arrive into the Tuscan capital and check in for your overnight stay at the Rosso 23 Florence located in the vibrant Piazza Santa Maria Novella.

Florence has been ranked as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It was the birthplace of the Renaissance movement and has been home to countless artists and writers over the centuries. Don’t miss the incredible Duomo with its distinctive black and white exterior or the typical Florentine cuisine in one of the many fantastic restaurants.

Day 3

Florence to Capri

Take a morning train from Florence to Naples and then choose from a few options to get across to Capri (payable locally). The fastest method of transport is by hydrofoil, departing from Naples Molo Beverello, which takes approximately 40 minutes. The slowest (and lowest priced) option is a ferry, which takes around 80 minutes.

Arrive in Capri and check in at the Excelsior Parco Hotel Capri. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle from Capri port. Spend the evening dining at one of the many restaurants in the fashionable La Piazzetta.

Days 4 to 6

Capri

Off the coast of the Sorrentine peninsula, Capri offers stunning views and has been a celebrated beauty hotspot since Roman times.

Take a boat trip to the incredible Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto) to witness the magical turquoise colours reflected in the waters. Walk the footpaths of Anacapri for incredible views of Mount Vesuvius and the Sorrentine peninsula. Visit the impressive Villa San Michele originally built by the Greeks, or sip a limoncello in the sunshine at one of the charming cafés.

Alternatively take the chairlift ride from Anacapri to Monte Salaro and walk through the pretty gardens admiring the unique views.

Day 7

Capri to London

On your final day, return to Naples for your British Airways flight back to London.

Capri

Capri is an Italian island resort in the Bay of Naples, surrounded by the azure blue waters of the Mediterranean. Capri town and Anacapri further uphill both offer lovely piazzas with traditional cafés and trattorias, some fascinating Roman remains and sea views to die for. Don’t leave without taking a boat out the Blue Grotto, a sea cave illuminated by an ethereal blue glow thanks to underground cavities which filter the sunlight.
