Itinerary - 7 Night Holiday by Air + Rail

Day 1

London to Berlin

Travel from St Pancras International or Ebbsfleet International by Eurostar to Brussels and then connect on to the German ICE train to Berlin via Cologne.

Once in Berlin check in at the Arcotel John F Berlin, where you will stay for three nights. The hotel is situated within walking distance of the Museum Quarter in Berlin and is perfectly located to explore the city.

Days 2 and 3

Berlin

Spend a full day exploring in the fascinating city of Berlin, full of history, culture, fabulous buildings and museums, along with a wide range of excellent restaurants and bars and a strong tradition in the performing arts.

There is no better place to start in Berlin than the Berlin Wall. Symbolising the division between the capitalist West and communist East, sections of the wall can be visited at several locations, most notably at the East Side Gallery. Checkpoint Charlie also provides an emotional view of the wall's history.

The imposing Reichstag is another building with huge historical significance and a favourite among tourists. A climb up to the glass dome is recommended for the wonderful views, photographic exhibition and rooftop restaurant. Brandenburg Gate also has a fascinating past and is one of Germany's most recognisable symbols.

Brandenburg Gate also has a fascinating past and is one of Germany's most recognisable symbols.

Day 4

Dresden

Depart Berlin in the morning and and take the ICE train to Dresden which takes just over two hours.

On arrival check in at the modern Intercity Dresden, which is brilliantly located opposite the main train station and where you will stay overnight.

Known as the Florence of the North, Dresden is arguably Germany's most attractive city with an abundance of Baroque architecture. Most of the city centre has been beautifully reconstructed after being destroyed by heavy bombing during World War II. The city's reconstruction also includes important works of modern architecture, such as Sir Norman Foster's new train station, which sit alongside renovated buildings such as the Frauenkirche Church.

Day 5

Dresden to Prague

After spending a morning of leisure in Dresden, take the Eurocity Train to Prague, which takes approximately 4 hours 45 minutes.

On arrival in Prague check-in for a 3 night stay at the K+K Hotel Central, which dates back to the 14th Century.

Days 6 and 7

Prague

Spend two full days exploring Central Europe's most popular destination.

Steeped in history and with a wide variety of attractions, this not-so-hidden gem continues to delight visitors from all over the world.

Historically the ancient capital of Charles IV's kingdom, Prague has developed as a culturally enriched city complete with many stylish hotels and restaurants where visitors can relax and enjoy their stay.

Prague city centre is divided into four districts: The New Town which encompasses Wenceslas Square, the neighbouring Old Town Quarter, the Jewish Quarter and the Lesser Quarter, home of Prague Castle, one of the city's most popular attractions.

The castle contains the impressive crown jewels of the Bohemian Kingdom and was historically home to Holy Roman Emperors and Czech kings, although it now houses the presidential offices of the Czech Republic.

Architecture fans will be in their element in Prague with a wide variety of beautiful buildings spanning the styles of Art Nouveau, Baroque, Renaissance, Gothic, Cubist and Neo-Classical.

The Old Town Square dates back to the 12th century and is one of many wonderful places to finish a day of discovering the city.

Day 8

Prague to London

Fly with British Airways from Prague to London in Euro Traveller Class.

Don't want to fly? Then ask for a quote to travel the whole way back from Prague by train. There is either the overnight train via Cologne or another option could be to travel via day time to Nuremberg, stay overnight in a hotel and then travel back to the UK in the day time. The advantage of this second route over the night train is that you will be able to see some stunning scenery en route.
