Itinerary - 8 Night Deluxe Holiday by Air + Rail
Day 1
London to Montpellier
Board the Eurostar from London and speed under the Channel before arriving in Lille and transferring onto the high-speed TGV to Montpellier. Enjoy stunning French countryside and experience the beauty of the Rhône Valley and Provence whilst relaxing in your seat!
Check in at the New Hotel Du Midi Montpellier for your overnight stay.
Spend your evening in this elegant city in the heart of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, only a stone’s throw from the French Riviera. Dine at one of the numerous restaurants on rue des Écoles Laiques and nearby rue du Pila Saint Gely which offers a variety of choices, including Italian, Moroccan, and of course French cuisine.
Days 2 and 3
Montpellier to Barcelona
After breakfast, travel from Montpellier to Barcelona. Catch glimpses of isolated coastline coves and Catalan villages before arriving in Figueres. From here, make the short 2 hour journey from Figueres to Barcelona through the Costa Brava countryside.
Check in at the Catalonia Ramblas located in the heart of Barcelona, for your 2 night stay. Ramble down Las Ramblas, the most famous tree-lined pedestrian boulevard in the world packed with buskers, dancers, living statues and mime artists. Stop in Mercat de la Boqueria for a fresh coconut juice or follow in the footsteps of Gaudi, visiting his architectural masterpieces such as the still unfinished Sagrada Familia cathedral and the wacky and wonderful garden city of Park Güell.
Days 4 and 5
Barcelona to Madrid
Travel from Barcelona to Madrid on the high speed AVE train. Journey time is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.

Located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, Madrid attracts visitors from every corner of the globe thanks to its love of art and enthusiasm for life. Wander through the city passing Madrid's finest monuments such as the Prado Museum before relaxing in Parque del Retiro, Madrid largest and most impressive park. Spend your evening enjoying Madrid's effervescent nightlife. Have dinner in one of the many traditional tapas bars, decorated "Belle Epoque" style and sip a Cava or Rioja in Gran Via or the ultra-trendy Paseo de la Castellana.
Day 6
Madrid to Lisbon
After a day's sightseeing in Madrid, board the overnight train to Lisbon. Relax in your Club Class cabin and awake to the sights and sounds of Portugal's most vibrant city.
Days 7 and 8
Lisbon
On arrival in Lisbon, check in at the beautiful Hotel Britania for your 2 night stay. Visit the city's most iconic sights such as the impressive medieval castle of Sao Jorge, the National Museum of Contemporary Art and the Estrela Basilica, one of Lisbon’s most fascinating churches and the first to be dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Lisbon is also well known for its fantastic shopping. Stroll through the lively markets for homemade gifts and take a visit to the fascinating flea market at Campo De Santa Clare for some hidden treasures. After a long day sightseeing stop for a strong bica (espresso) at one of the popular Art Deco pastelaria (pastry shop). Alternatively enjoy Lisbon’s celebrated nightlife by visiting Bairro Alto for incredible Portuguese music and plenty of restaurants to enjoy the city's tasty gastronomy and fine wines!

Montpellier
Situated on the Mediterranean coast and capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, Montpellier is the eighth biggest city in France with one of the most vibrant cultures. The main focal point is the Place de la Comedie, an impressive 18th Century Square perfect for people watching and enjoying the sights and sounds of Montpellier. The city is full of medieval buildings such as the Arc de Triumph, built in honour of Louis XIV in 1691 and the Tour de la Babote, a historic tower now converted into a observatory for the Sociata des Royale des Sciences. Its sunny climate, well-preserved vineyards and mountain vistas create a beautiful back-drop for this vibrant and eclectic city.
Barcelona
The buzzing capital of Catalonia, Barcelona offers fabulous architecture, fascinating museums, beaches, bars, great food and colourful street markets. Discover Gaudi’s architectural masterpieces including the epic and still unfinished Sagrada Familia and Park Güell, visit the Picasso Museum, wander down las Ramblas and take a tour of the lovely Gothic Quarter. In the summer you can even sunbathe on one of the city’s seven beaches!
Madrid
Spain’s capital Madrid is a vibrant city with world class museums and a lively tapas fuelled nightlife. Visit the famous Prado Museum and the Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, home to Picasso’s epic Guernica or shop along Gran Via and in the fashionable Salamanca area. Madrid is a city with its own rhythms and a culture all its own. Don't expect to eat early (many restaurants don't even open their doors till gone 9pm) but do expect to eat well. You may even catch a performance of flamenco!
Lisbon
Lisbon is a stunning city, overlooking the wide River Tagus from its seven hills. Climb up to the medieval Castelo de São Jorge through the pretty Alfama district for great city views. You can also get uphill via one of the city’s famous lifts and funiculars some of which date back to the beginning of the 19th century. Alternatively climb aboard one of the city’s distinctive yellow trams which navigate the narrow streets, steep gradients and parked cars with apparent ease!
New Hotel Du Midi Montpellier 
The New Hotel in Montpellier is set in a Belle Epoque style traditional building, and has been recently renovated. The hotel is centrally located on the Place de la Comédie, next to the Opera House in the centre of Montpellier.
