Itinerary - 4 Night Holiday by Rail

Day 1

London to Amsterdam

Travel on Eurostar from London to Brussels where you transfer onto the local train to Amsterdam. On arrival in Amsterdam check into the Vondel Hotel Amsterdam for a 2 night stay.

Spend the rest of the day exploring Amsterdam at leisure. Hiring a bike is a great way to get around Amsterdam. There are dedicated bike paths throughout the city and bikes are available to hire from around €8 per day.

Amsterdam is the biggest shopping centre in the Netherlands with over ten thousand shops, markets and boutiques so there are plenty of opportunities to do some shopping during your stay.

Day 2

Amsterdam

Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before spending a second day exploring this cosmopolitan city.

Sit and watch the world go by from a café, visit the world famous Anne Frank Museum or stroll through the picturesque flower markets. You may also choose to take a boat tour along some of Amsterdam's famous canals.

Amsterdam has a great nightlife and there are plenty of restaurants and bars to visit during your time here.

Day 3

Amsterdam to Cologne

Spend the morning discovering more of Amsterdam before travelling by train to Cologne. (Journey time 2 hours 30 minutes). On arrival in Cologne check into the Hilton Cologne for a 2 night stay.

Visit Cologne's Chocolate Museum for a tasting, relax in a traditional bar and sample the local specialty beer, or head up to the top of the Dom for fabulous views over the city!

Watch the world go by from a café, shop till you drop along Cologne's pedestrianised Schildergasse, or visit Cologne's Town Hall which is one of Germany's oldest town halls, dating back almost 900 years.

Day 4

Cologne

Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before spending a second day discovering all Cologne has to offer.

Visit the wonderful museums such as the Fragrance Museum or marvel at one of the 12 great Romanesque churches in the inner city.

Why not spend the afternoon strolling through the narrow, cobbled streets of the old town before enjoying the perfect end to your holiday with a relaxing meal at one of the many restaurants the city has to offer.

Day 5

Cologne to London

After breakfast in the hotel travel by train from Cologne to Brussels, before transferring onto the Eurostar to London.

Amsterdam is a multifaceted city, with something for every traveller’s taste. It’s packed with culture, history and architecture and boasts one of the largest historic centres in Europe. Amsterdam has around seven thousand registered historic buildings and an impressive collection of museums. These include the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum, offering a large collection of paintings from the Dutch Golden Age. Don’t miss a boat ride along the city’s historic canals.

Cologne is a famous city along the River Rhine, whose skyline is dominated by its awe-inspiring Gothic Cathedral, one of the largest of its kind. Climb the south tower for spectacular views over the city and the river. There are also plenty of museums here including the Römisch-Germanisches Museum, offering an interesting history of the Rhine during Roman times and the Chocolate Museum, a must for chocoholics.
