Itinerary - 6 Night Holiday by Rail

Day 1

London to Aix en Provence

Speed under the Channel by Eurostar from London to Paris, which takes approximately 2 hours 15 minutes. Transfer on to the high speed TGV through glorious French countryside and villages to Aix En Provence. Journey time is approximately 3 hours.

On arrival check in for your 3 night stay at the Aquabella Hotel Aix En Provence.

Days 2 and 3

Aix en Provence

Spend three days in the heart of Provence discovering the "city of art and lights". Surrounded by picturesque countryside full of authentic Provençal houses and famous for its fantastically preserved architecture, Aix en Provence has an abundance of sightseeing opportunities. Take a walk through the Cours Mirabeau and visit the 17th and 18th Century mansions, decorated with ancient fountains and beautiful flowers. Stroll through the Quartier Mazarin and its narrow streets or follow in the great artist Cezanne's footsteps with a trip to his museum or a private tour of some of his most famous works. Enjoy delicious French cuisine and relax in the Mediterranean climate.

Day 4

Aix en Provence to Nice

Travel through Provençal countryside and along the sparkling Côte d'Azur from Aix En Provence to Nice (journey time is approximately 2 and a half hours).

On arrival check in for your 3 night stay at the Windsor Hotel Nice.

Days 5 and 6

Nice

Spend three days exploring the charming town of "Nice la belle" (Nice the beautiful). Nice offers beautiful beaches, luxurious seaside dining and plenty of opportunity for shopping and sightseeing. Visit the Chagall and Matisse galleries to discover the colourful works of these two famous French artists. Wander through Vieux Nice to discover traditional French architecture and the daily markets selling flowers, gifts and fresh Niçoise delicacies. Alternatively, visit the 19th century Palais Massena featuring impressionist paintings and folk art.

Day 7

Nice to London

Travel from Nice to Paris or Lille on the high speed TGV, passing by scenic French countryside before stopping for lunch or transferring straight onto your Eurostar back to London.

Nice

Nice

Nice is the capital of the French Riviera and the epitome of Côte d’Azur chic. Wander along the famous beachfront Promenade des Anglais or explore the tiny winding streets of the Old Town and the highly scented flower market. Nice also provided inspiration for some notable artists and you can see some of these represented in the collection at the Musée des Beaux-Arts Jules Chéret, which occupies a former private mansion, built in 1878 for a Ukranian princess.
