What to do and see in and around Juan Les Pins

Jazz
Juan les Pins is synonymous with Jazz and its annual Jazz Festival, Jazz à Juan, has attracted such stars as Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald and John Coltrane over the years.

Picasso Museum
Housed in the historic Chateau Grimaldi the Musee Picasso is dedicated to works by the famous artist. In 1946 the museum’s curator invited Picasso to use a part of the (formerly titled) Grimaldi museum as his studio. Picasso subsequently donated the works created at the museum to Antibes town. Other works have been donated since and the museum is well worth a visit for lovers of modern art.

Beaches
With its Mediterranean climate and 25 kilometres of coastline Juan les Pins is the perfect seaside destination. With a mixture of sandy and pebble beaches and a variety of water sports there is something for everyone.

Port Vauban
Heralded as the largest yachting harbour in Europe, Port Vauban is the place to go if you want to see super yachts and indulge in a game of millionaire spotting.

Fort Carré
Over 450 years old, this impressive star shaped fort built on an ancient Roman site is a protected historic monument. There are regular guided tours of the site which provide a fascinating insight into the history of the fort.

Napoleonic Museum
This fascinating museum, situated in the evocative environs of an ancient battery on the Cap d’Antibes, is home to a substantial collection of artifacts from the Napoleonic era such as artwork and weapons. The museum is also surrounded by a lovely park.

Thuret Park
An oasis of trees and Mediterranean plant life, this 5 hectare park and accompanying villa was created by Gustave Thuret in 1857. Thuret Park has since been bequeathed to the state by Thuret’s heirs for all to enjoy.

Peynet Museum
A fantastic collection of works by the illustrator Raymond Peynet who lived in Antibes. Peynet’s popular etchings and cartoons are supplemented by temporary exhibitions displaying the works of other illustrators.

Villa Eilenroc
Built by the Dutchman Hugh Hope Loudon in the 1860’s, this elegant villa was named after Loudon’s wife Cornelie, albeit in anagram form. Subsequent owner James Wyllie crafted the accompanying celebrated garden and this beautiful environment has seen many glittering parties in its time. To this day the villa continues to serve as a lavish venue for concerts, receptions and filming.
