Le Grand Pavois boat show in La Rochelle

Beautiful beaches, water as blue as the sky and boats lined up along the harbour – it can only be La Rochelle. And from September 15th to 20th, visitors can marvel at the range of boats on display at Le Grand Pavois show in the French port.
Le Grand Pavois is one of the world's largest international in-water boat shows, welcoming in excess of 100,000 visitors each year. It has been running since 1973 and has grown to feature around 700 exhibitors.
If you have enough Euros to splash out on one of the hundreds of vessels on display, then this is the event at which to do it, but Le Grand Pavois is about more than the actual buying and selling of state-of-the-art boats.
One of the areas of the event is dedicated completely to travel, with a hall full of information for visitors on yachting resorts, rental agencies, accommodation and cruise companies.
Another section, Guadalope Hall, has retained its popularity since its inclusion in the exhibition programme more than ten years ago. Guadalope provides a range of products to be sampled by visitors, including spices, jams, liqueurs and rum.
The show culminates in a spectacular pyrotechnic display at the port's entrance called Voiles de Nuit, or Night Sails. Last year's event was watched by 50,000 spectators.
