Set in the Engadine region of Switzerland, St Moritz is famed for its champagne climate and fabulous alpine landscape and is a charming destination in both winter and summer. Take a walk through the beautiful National Park, sample some mountain cheese or head up into the mountains.

What to do and see in and around St Moritz

The Alps
St Moritz is a haven for winter sports enthusiasts and hikers alike. However if you just want to see stunning views, the neaby peaks of Corvatsch, Muottas Muragl and Corviglia are all accessible by cable car.

Lakes
Make sure you make the most the region's beautiful lakes whilst in St Moritz. Whether it’s the annual horse race which is held on the frozen Lake St Moritz in February or swimming in the Lake of Statz during the summer months there’s something for everyone.

Glacier Express
One of the most scenic railway routes in the world, the Glacier Express is a must for anyone based in St Moritz. The route from St Moritz to Zermatt takes in the Bernina Pass and the Matterhorn and crosses a total of 291 bridges along the way.

National Park
This beautiful natural alpine habitat is home to 650 species of flowering plants and over 5,000 species of animals. Lucky visitors to the National Park may be able to spot red deer, roe deer and chamois.

Olympic Bobsleigh Run
Fans of the Winter Olympics will love the Olympic Bobsleigh Run (also known as the St. Moritz-Celerina Olympic Bobrun) which is open late December through February. The Bobsleigh Run was built in 1903 and was used for Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948 and is the only bobsleigh run in the world to be made entirely of natural ice.

Cheese Factory
Calling all cheese lovers, Pontresina’s alpine dairy on Alp Morteratsch is the perfect place to sample some traditional alpine cheese and find out how it’s made. The factory is open from July to September.

Segantini Museum
This beautiful museum dates back to 1908 and displays the work of the 19th century Italian painter Giovanni Segantini who spent his last years in Engadine. The highlight of his collection is the Alpine Triptych "Life - Nature - Death" which was greatly influenced by the region’s scenery.

Berry Museum
Another artist inspired by the natural beauty of Engadine was Peter Robert Berry, a contemporary of Segantini, a comprehensive collection of Berry’s work can be seen at the Berry Museum which is housed in the St Moritz’s historic Villa Arona.
