Explore Prague's spooky spoils
Visitors to Prague around Halloween may want to inject the full character of the season to their holiday by exploring some of the city's more chilling attractions.
These range from the Old Jewish Cemetery with its crowded leaning headstones to the Ossuary in Kutna Hora an hour outside Prague.
Situated in the Jewish Quarter - also known as Josefov - the burial site contains around 12,000 tombstones, but the number of people buried is thought to be much larger, according to the attraction's dedicated website.
These range from persons buried between 1439 and 1787, studies say and due to the size of the plot it is possible that the cemetery is made up of several burial layers built on top of each other.
People taking a trip up to the magnificent Prague Castle overlooking the city may be interested to explore the Royal Crypts at St Vitus Cathedral, which are home to the final resting place of Czech kings.
Finally, for those who want to venture further afield, Kutna Hora offers the unsettling chapel of bones, the Sedlec Ossuary, which contains the remains of 40,000 deceased displayed in a decorative fashion, encompassing a chandelier and other artworks.
