Enjoy a spooky sightsee in Paris
Visitors to Paris around Halloween may want to get in the spirit of the occasion by stopping by some of the city's spookiest attractions.
Paris offers a range of interesting and ghoulish hotspots, from the Pere Lachaise Cemetery which houses many famous inhabitants to the underground Catacombs displaying the bones of 18th and 19th century Parisians.
Celebrated individuals whose final resting places can be viewed include The Doors singer Jim Morrison, playwright and author Oscar Wilde, French singer Edith Piaf and acclaimed Polish pianist Frederic Chopin.
Also interesting may be a visit to Les Invalides, where the tombs of Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) and other historical figures are featured, including members of the leader's family.
Napoleon's sarcophagus sits beneath the main dome of the building.
For the intrepid fright fanatic, Les Catacombes or the "municipal ossuary" could be another option on the circuit.
Situated underground in a network of tunnels, the skeletal remains of around six million Parisians from the late-18th to mid-19th centuries are displayed in a "romantico-macabre" manner, according to the museum's website.
For those who really cannot get enough, there is also the Pantheon, a neo-classical church in the Latin quarter, whose crypt houses important French figures from Marie Curie to Emile Zola.
Indulge your spooky fascinations in Paris.
