The gentle alpine slopes of Arosa
For picture-book views and leisurely winter breaks, there are few better destinations than Arosa.
The Swiss municipality can be found in the canton of Graubünden, sitting at the foot of the towering Weisshorn peak and the end of the Schanfigg valley. Arosa is comprised of two main areas - Ausserarosa and Innerarosa - and is noted for being a winter and summer resort.
However, the arrival of snowfall brings the most visitors, with the safe, gentle slopes making Arosa a perfect place to enjoy a skiing holiday. Though deemed unchallenging by more experienced skiers, Arosa's pistes are ideal for those either with children or whose reflexes are not as quick as they once were.
Walks along the snowy trails and skating on the ice covered lake are also recommended to winter visitors, but Arosa is more than just another ski resort. In summer, the white expanses at the foot of the snow-capped mountains are replaced with lush greenery, making for a completely different view from the area's cable cars.
Arosa is also widely recognised as a haven for those seeking rest and recuperation. Here, wellness is almost as important an industry as winter sports, with open air oases to be found in the village. And, of course, the clear alpine air and beaming sunshine can go a long way in helping visitors clear the mind and body.
Why not take a short break in Arosa?
