Flanders Battlefields Tour from Lille
Visit Flanders' World War I Battlefields near Ypres (Ieper) in Belgium on a 4 hour English speaking guided tour by bus (53 seats) from Lille.
You will discover the main sites surrounding Ypres, battlefields in the Messines area, monuments, memorials and cemeteries. Highlights
of the trip include a visit to Essex Farm cemetery (where John McCrae wrote the famous poem "In Flanders Fields"), Boesinghe battlefield,
Langemark (the German cemetery), Tyne Cot cemetery (the Commonwealth military cemetery), and a visit to the centre of Ypres.
Commentary is in English, and the tour must be pre-booked.
Flanders Battlefields Tour departs from the Lille tourist office on Place Rihour:
16 Feb-25 Oct 2008 - every Saturday at 1pm (returns at 6pm)
8 Nov-20 Dec 2008 - every Saturday at 12pm (returns at 5pm)
No Battlefields Tour the first Saturday of September (Braderie), the third Saturday of September (Heritage weekend) and 1st November.
The Flanders Battlefields Tour can only be booked through railbookers with a Lille short break package.
