Caliente in Zurich

For a feast of Latin flavours, head to Zürich for the Caliente festival, running from July 4th to 6th.

Caliente is the perfect event for those seeking the vibrancy of the fiesta while also looking for the medieval beauty of a European city. Authenticity is nevertheless the byword of this event, which also
takes place in Miami.

Naturally for a party of this nature, all of the action happens in the open air, with more than 100,000
revellers gathering each year under the clear summer skies. The venue for the festivities is the Helvetiaplatz and the Kaserne.

Music is the cord that binds Caliente together, with a wealth of bands, dancers and Djs in attendance to keep the Latin rhythms rolling relentlessly on. Whether your taste is Cuban or Brazilian, rumba or reggae, there is certain to be something to get you in the mood for moving.

But the fiesta is not solely about the sounds that are made at every corner. It is also about enjoying
refreshments at the many stalls that line the Mercado Mundial, or picking up a souvenir to keep long after the party has ended.

If nothing else, Caliente goes to show what a melting pot of influences the culture of Zürich has become. Just over a month later, the city celebrates its more traditional heritage with the Medieval Spectacle activities.
